I took my NSX to the drag strip for the first time and ran a 13.7, and a 13.6, it's a 1991 with intake and exhaust. I think this is a pretty fair number.

What where your 60' times? How about your mph? I am very curious. I ran some 13.6's with a trap speed of 103+ and 2.1 60' times.

R/T..... .688
60'..... 2.115
330.... 5.835
1/8.... 8.870
MPH.. 81.67
1000. 11.469
1/4.... 13.647
MPH... 103.69

Those numbers are almost identical to mines. Are you near sea level? What was the temperature? What kind of mods are you running on your car? Tire/wheel setup, intake/exhaust, any headers, gears, etc?
I have a 92 and ran with my stock 15/16 wheels with A022 tires. I have a Comptech exhaust with race clutch, Japanese shortgears and Junn lightweight flywheel. Also have a K&N FIPK. I launched around 2800 rpm because any thing more would cause excessive wheel spin and anything less would bog. I am very curious to see if my times get better with a stock K&N drop in, Cantrell Induction intake scoop and Comptech headers. I haven't installed the headers yet but would actually like to make some time to test and see if the intake scoop makes any difference.

Totally stock (at the time), street tires, no launch, no intake, no exhaust, worn clutch, and had just driven an hour to get to the track so the engine was nice & warm.

14.0, don't remember the trap speed.

Not trying to compare numbers or steal your post, just thought I would chime in with my pathetic little numbers. :)

It is always great to have other's chime in. I have really noticed that ALOT of the NSX community frown on 1/4 mile drag racing. I know the NSX is not a 1/4 mile car but it is always good to know what you can do with your car. There are so many numbers out there that nobody knows which is correct. I have a prime example of this.
When I first took my NSX out to Sacramento Raceway and ran the 13.6's, one of my runs was next to a brand new 405hp Z06 with intake and exhaust. I was very intimidated but since it was just time testing, I thought I'd give it my best shot. I ran off a 13.6 at 103+mph and beat him through the traps. He ran a 13.8 at 108mph. His best run that evening was a 13.3 at around 109 if I remember right. Blame it on the driver but aren't stock Z06's suppose to be in the 12.8 range with about 112mph trap speed? Needless to say, I left there with a BIG GRIN on my face. Anyway, I also track my car and find that even more fun. When's the next NSX track event?

Hey Litespeeds,

Great story at the drags! Thanks again for the group buy on the Cantrell Concepts a.i.s. I installed mine a few weeks ago. Anyway, a few years ago I ran with the local Porsche Club for some drag racing. I have a '97 3.2 L, and at the time had a Comptech exhaust and K & N fipk. My best run launched at around 2,500 rpms on street tires:

r/t .570
60' 2.177
1/4 13.537
MPH 102.41

Although i'm not a 1/4mi fan, I did go to the drag strip once with my NSX. My first run ever resulted in the following:

R/T .554
60' 2.178
330 5.946
1/8 9.012
MPH 83.90
1000 11.643
1/4 13.848
MPH 102.66

My best run of the night was.

R/T .645
60' 2.176
330 5.955
1/8 9.006
MPH 83.96
1000 11.616
1/4 13.806
MPH 103.28

I didn't dump the clutch and I have 17/18 wheels. I wasn't too impressed with doing the 1/4 because after waiting around for 3 hours, I only drove for a total of about 55 seconds.

Comptech header/taitec exhaust/KN drop in yielded 13.6@107 for me. I was slipping the clutch too much launching I think. My best stock was 14.0@102.

Here is my exact numbers for one of my runs:

R/T .598
60' 2.123
330 5.842
1/8 8.865
MPH 81.632
1000 11.431
1/4 13.611
MPH 103.824

I had a total of 7 runs that evening. 3 runs were in the 13.6 range. I was experimenting with different rpm launches and figured out that my best runs came from around 2800 rpm.

I am glad that others have posted their numbers here. Will try again when my Comptech headers are installed.

Here is what I have done so far. '91 5sp.

Bone stock:
13.8 @ 102 (Aug. 2002)

w/ CT PGII clutch, CT 4.55R&P, short gears, intake, 17/18" rims:
13.487 @ 102.500 (Mar. 2003)

same as above except drag radials on stock rims, weight reductions (pass seat, spare, tools, engine cover):
13.04 @ 106 (April 2003)

I'm waiting to see what an exhaust and headers will do, I'm going to guess mid 12's. My goal is low 12's (maybe with a chip too??)because an ET of 11.99 or quicker requires a cage so I'm not interested in going that quick.

Well I made my first 1/4 mile run a few weeks ago at Bradenton Motor Speedway. It was about 75 degrees and 100% humidty, very slick track. They ended up closing it down becasue fog rolled in and it starting misting. The tree decided to stop working or the operator, so I waited for over a minute with the two yellow's lite up, and when they finally did...I was looking at the tower. There goes my only run of the night starting off with a horrible reaction time and I launched at around 3800rpms... the numbers tell the rest...I spun all the way down the track!

r/t... .917
60'.... 2.340
330.... 6.179
1/8.... 9.153
mph.... 83.72
1000.... 11.669
1/4.... 13.783
mph.... 107.50

I have the video of my run. Email and I will share:)

Sounds like we all run about the same numbers, I really think I could have pulled the numbers down to at least a 13.4. It seems like I just never could get good RT's. I'll work on that. Also I've been working on speedshifting without letting off the gas so I think I can pull a better number now.

Hey NSXRacer,
That is a very impressive trap speed of 107mph. Do you have a 97+ NSX? Any mods to the car? With a 107 trap speed, you should be pulling some very low 13's. Too bad you didn't get to make more runs. Great first run! Don't worry about reaction time, it is all about the 60' time.

Litespeeds,

I edited my first post and added a signature to answer your questions, sorry about that. I was hoping for high 12's but, that was not the night for it! Looking to get one of the new G-Tech Pros to play with before I go again. I prefer the curves anyway.:)

I actually drove Gerry Johnson's monster NSX. That car has sssooooo much power. It sets you back in your seat and you can't even move when the turbo kicks in. With a trap speed of around 125mph, that car can probably destroy almost any car on the streets. And that is on street tires that he ran that speed.
Gerry is one of the nicest NSX owners/business person around. If you ever get a chance to come to Northern Calif., give him a call and stop on by his shop.
Thanks for your posting.

Litespeeds,

I've actually been talking with Gerry about doing a turbo on my car. He hasn't done a 1997+ yet due to the drive by wire throttle. He has one lined up to do and then I might be making a trip to Cali! I'm gonig to stick with stock internals for now and his 7psi set-up and a LARGE top mount intercooler which gives me pleanty of room for improvements in boost once I build my motor up.

Do you know when that 97+ is expected to be complete? I'm in the bay area so I'm fairly close to his shop. I like to drop by to take a look....

that's a good idea...i know many clubs that hold meets at shops rather than parking lots. if we have a member that owns a shop that wouldn't mind the crowd, i say it's a nice way to hold a meet and perhaps get some extra business.

That would be great if we can get together for a meet at a shop. Maybe do install or tech chat day. Having a group of people caravan down to GJ's shop would be very beneficial for the ones who's serious about getting massive power into their NSX

lets me chime in my first time too :)

r/t = 0.873
60' = 2.120
330 = 5.870
1/8 = 8.911
1/4 = 13.726 I'm at 1200ft above sea level ~ 13.553
MPH = 102.91 ......................................... ~ 104.23 MPH

2nd run
r/t = 0.702
60' = 2.211
330 = 5.973
1/8 = 9.020
1/4 = 13.837 ~ 13.662
MPH = 103.03 MPH ~ 104.36 at sea level

car: 92 NSX with dc sport header, exhaust, intake, dali chip, 17/18 wheels that slow me down :)
track temp is about 85F at 1200ft above sea level
