Also, the thing is too tall. This is a disturbing trend in sports cars - they are getting too tall. That's the most striking thing about exotics - the lowness. Bring back the TR dimensions! Lets hope the next NSX doesnt get taller (I wouldn't mind a bit more width though).

Height in inches:
911 Turbo 51.0
575M Maranello 50.3
360 Modena 46.6
NSX 46.1
Enzo 45.2
Murcielago 44.7
1984 Testarossa 44.5

Ford GT-40: 40 inches

Is that the one that's not on the market now because it's not out yet and was only shown as a prototype, or the one that was sold several decades ago?

The lowest car I've ridden in was an old Lotus that one of my instructors had at the track. I remember we drove underneath one of those chain-type barricades. I've looked at various Lotus photos on the net but I can't find the model; its styling was a bit more squared off than the cars in the photos I've found. And it wasn't a Super Seven.

I believe, you are talking about Lotus Europa. Don't know the exact height, but lower than all the cars you mentioned (Not sure if compared to GT-40 though).

Yes, I think that was it.

But apparently the GT-40 has it beat, because the Europa was 42.1 inches tall.

I think his negative camber up front might have caused the problem,

On the subject of height, with the many lowered nsx's out there the roofes of which are in th 44.5-45.5 in.range which out in the real world is an amazing and exotic thing to behold!

The limbo dance steps required to enter a significantly lowered NSX are also an amazing and exotic thing to behold!

You got me curious so I went out and measured my NSX.

My WW front spoiler is exactly 4 inches off the ground.

The rear brake light is exactly 35 inches off the ground.

My roofline is about 44.5~45 inches from the ground.

I also did a quick benchmark... the aforementioned 40 inch roofline would be REALLY low on a car!!!

The original GT40 was so named because it is 40 inches high. Might just be the lowest car ever made... I thought the Countach might give it a run for its money, but that comes in at 42 inches, so the Ford may be the champ.

C'mon Next-Gen-NSX, how low can you go? Do I hear 39.5?

So you would take a 2000lb NSX with a 70" roofline?

I guess these lowness stats takes the expression that "Exotic cars are high-speed coffins" a bit further.

This is interesting; i wouldn't have guessed a Murcielago was lower than an NSX! Anyone know how low a Diablo is?

I believe some of the guyz on this forum who have lowered their NSX come in at 36"...

Hey, I was watching a show on Speedvision called "Porsche:Victory by Design", and there was a car in there, a black 962, that was GORGEOUS!!! It was no frog, I tell you that for sure!!! It had a cool back wing, slightly bowed, it was a REALLY good looking car, perhaps one of my favorites ever.

If I got this right, there should be a pic of one I found below:
<img border="0" src="http://www.atometron.com/962.jpg">

I have a 72 Triumph Spitfire with a GT6 running gear and bonnet. It stands 34" with the hardtop on.

It sits lower when the tires go flat, the damn thing seldom runs. But when it does, it is a street legal go kart.

BTW - This was my first car, talk about having to learn to work on your own car quickly!

I was down on South Beach Thurs-Sun this past week and was disappointed to only see one NSX .. Sat afternoon. Think I saw more Bentleys (3), AM Vantages (3), 360's (2), and RX-8s (2). But there were piles of Porsches (even a Cayenne), BMWs, C5's and Hummers. Only saw one Diablo VT with removable top (whatever they call that one) so I guess the NSX was in good company from an exclusivity point of view.
