Good advice on the fuse.
I didn't think about the impedance - that is something to think about. I suspect it probably does have a relatively constant impedance - perhaps like a loudspeaker. Hella says 65W per horn. It is a 12V device. P=IV so if P=65, V=12, then I must be 65/12 = about 5.4 A...
I found a spec that says each horn draws 66 watts. That means 5.5A at 12V each or 11 A total at 12V. At 13.8V the draw is under 10A.
Seems like it might OK with existing wiring.
If I choose to use the relay, would you go straight to the battery or use an unused fuse terminal?
I bought some Hella B133 horns. Assuming they will fit - do I need to use the relay included with them? I see in the service manual that the OEM horns are already triggered with a relay. If not - I should just be able to splice the wiring - correct?
Just an update. Got my NSX back Oct. 2. It took a long time because we needed a door shell - and Acura no longer makes it for pre-2002. Very pleased so far. I was in no hurry, so did not push McDavid for any dates. One of the techs at the collision center owns an NSX.
As the title says. Must have no surface defects that can't be removed without using filler.
Prefer Formula red but of course other colors are OK. Also like it if the latch is part of the door.
I did what the OP did because my CCU had some of the same symptoms as others (fan only operated on high, etc.). But after replacing all caps, it still didn't work.
Sent it to BrianK. It came back and worked fine. No new caps. But I did see new bypasses on the circuit board, which repaired...
No chrome. My 97 NSX came with chrome OEMs and I could not wait to replace them. It took me years (bought some OZ from a Primer). They were "bright silver" paint which was much better. But I really wanted gunmetal. So I used Plastidip in True Metallic Anthracite Grey. I feel no shame using...
My body shop guy was online while I looked. He found 6-7 doors around the country - but many of them were described in somewhat rough condition. I did not want a door that needed "repair" per se. Refinishing is expected.
It looks like one of the SOS doors will make its way to Texas.
Add: I...
My 1997 NSX has a damaged left hand (driver's side) door. The body shop (an Acura dealer) says the door shell can no longer be ordered. Do you guys have any sources for a new or like new left door?
Thanks for the post. Car is at McDavid now - mostly because I know they know the parts. One of the techs at the collision shop owns an NSX.
$9300 for the left door and left rear quarter panel (plus some paint and labor). Allstate is paying and I was glad to see they didn't press for any...
My NSX was the unfortunate victim of another driver's bad lane change. It needs work on the driver's side.
What body shops are known to be good with NSXs? Is David McDavid capable?
After buying my NSX in 2007, and doing most of my work myself, the only two tools I added that are not common for most is the Honda valve adjustment tool and an inspection mirror. Both used in the valve adjustment. For the valve adjustment tool I didn't buy an actual Honda tool - instead a...
