I think it's the lash in the gears . Mine makes a lot of noise at idle and even a little more with the AC on. If it were the bearings making that much noise, it would fail.
I have a 91 with a CSC , test pipes, topspeed headers, Comptec exhaust and it is IMHO perfect . No droning and is not loud untill it gets on boost and then it's all good.
If you are close to Fort Worth , Steve Metcalf (owner) at Dealer-Alternative can do anything you need. They are Honda exclusive and Steve is a wealth of knowledge and actually loves working on Hondas. They have always worked on my NSX's . They installed my supercharger about two years ago and...
How many different Wipples were , are used for the NSX ? I have an older Comptech kit , but I don't know which model it is. Photos of each would help a lot.
The old saying "you get what you pay for" is BS. Being in the retail business all my life I've seen the same product selling from $100 - $500 . Talk to people that have firsthand knowledge of the product and nothing to gain from their opinion. Many were bad mouthing Topspeed when they first...
I like te elec. tape alot. First use the painters tape (for easy removal) and then apply the blk elec tape over ihe painter's tape for looks. The vinal elec tape will protect well, while the painter's tape will come off easly.
I've read that the springs really don't need replacing , just shocks. I've put Bilsteins on my 91' at 122,00ml. origional springs still on car and it's great. Used the lower perch to lower the car just under an inch. Very happy.
The fender gap is an easy and fairly cheap fix. Bilsteins on the lower perch will reduce the gap and really improve the looks. Lowers the car just under an inch really doesn't change the ride much. Wait awhile and get some seat time bofore anything else. F/I is expensive but imo worth it.
Forget the 1K and source the body panels on Prime. I just got my NSX back from the body shop and saved almost 2K buy getting a door, rear 1/4 panel and a few small misc. parts. The ins. chk. was written to me for the full amount [ new parts from Acura ] and I used the leftover balance to do some...
The damn things just rattle. My Whipple makes alot of noise at idle, at least it sounds loud to me, but most non-owners don't really notice it. It is only at idle. I topped-up the oil to the top of the dipstick and that helped a little.
Re: Desinfecting the A/C
I think the only way to eliminate the ordor from the evap. would be to clean the evap directly. I've misted alcohol into the air intake and that helped but the smell returns over time. I think you can gain access to the evap through the front bay by removing the ac/heat...
