Why cant you use wide flat washers instead of a spacer?

To get wheels to clear the caliper. I am having a hard time getting a 1mm spacer.

Because you need to have a large enough contact area for the wheels and hubs to provide stability for the wheels.

Would they crack? (BY THE WAY i AM NOT DOING THIS TO MY CAR) i AM GETTING MY 5MM SPACERS MILLED.

Why not just buy them? You can buy 1.5 mm spacers here. (0.06" = 1.5 mm)

The bolt circle for the NSX is 5 x 4.5" (same thing as 5 x 114.3 mm).
