air blower only works on high

99% of the time, this is due to a failure of the climate control computer. The capacitors that Honda used on these units weren't as good as they should have been. As a result, they eventually fail (explode) and leak acid all over the circuit board, typically causing your exact problem. If you have any soldering skills, you can open up the unit and replace the capacitors yourself. If not you, can get it repaired by someone else. Science of Speed and Dali Racing fix them. Forum member BrianK also repairs the units. IIRC, the going price is around $200.

good luck!

Honda used these caps not knowing that they would be in service for 20+ years. depending what year your NSX is I mean.

But Briank is the man to do this.

Had this exact problem on my 98 a few months ago. Brian sorted it out, great service and very reliable.

I agree its a circuit design/application issue. The reason being its primarily the same three that always fail. C44 & C11 failed on my '96. If it was a capacitor quality issue, the failures would be somewhat uniformly distributed.

If I had access to a 'scope and felt like spending time pulling the unit out again and analyzing waveforms, I could probably come up with a fix. But then again, changing the caps once every 10 to 12 years is a lot simpler.

I just fixed mine yesterday. Three caps were bad (C44, C11, and C32).
I suspect this is a design issue. But mine is 15 years old...

The fix was fairly simple if you know how to solder and are knowable with simple electronics.

My air only blows on high, doesnt work at any other settings. any ideas?

No repair advice, but my own weird experiences:
Mine had more or less the same problem, after several minutes of non-operating except on high, the functions would pick up again.
Even though the board looked mint, NO leakage visible, we replaced ALL capacitors and even though functions now work almost all the time now, the AC has developed a weird gremlin:
as I live in europe, I took out the wireloop in the AC connector to make the display change from F in C.
After my board has been worked on, the display and the functions intermittedly changed between F and C. After this happend several times, now the display and function is in F all the time even though the wire loop in the connector is still removed... go figure:frown::confused:

I had the same problem with I bought my nsx a year ago. BrianK fixed it very quickly. I would recommend him for this job.

Its not always the CCU! and I really dont need to give advise as BrianK is more than experienced in this department.

But me experience was similar last year; blower only worked when dial was at full on mode. I inspected the CCU which was fine.

Turned out it was the Transistor in the blower motor. I actually didnt even need to replace it, I just removed it, cleaned it down and then installed and it's been working fine since.
