Back from London. NSX is rare there too

Come on, you have been to Monaco/Montecarlo, don't you?

I even saw a LeMans car on the road (Mazda I think)... the "usual" Lambos are not exotic enough there. :p
But for a non-casino city, London blows my mind everytime I go there. The most expensive cars, exotic motorcycles, and yes, all the really beautiful women. Of course, London is also the most expensive place too. I usually spend the first 1-2 weeks in Paris then take the EuroStars to London for 2-3 days. The sheer number of exotic cars there is just amazing. A few years ago, I jokingly proposed a NSXPO in Europe. Perhaps if there are enough interest, you guys might want to organize one.

Martin, how the hell did you make "biltilsynet" give you small plates in the front. Tried in Oslo, but the tech guy there nearly killed med with arguments telling me why I could not get them...

And yes, that's an old 300z, or 280z back then. Nice cars actually.

Hi

Small plates. Well I told him that I need small plates on the front. He told me that I could not get that if they did not interrupt the airflow to the radiators.. "Well take a look" I said and I got small plates.

It did help that I had small plates on the car already. I think I still had the tollplates on the car when I got it certified.

I would imagine that it would be near to impossible to get small plates if you already have big ones. But you could try.

Regards

Definitely try to get a small plate! They are very cool. The Swiss and Italian NSXes look nice with them. I have a monstrous (UK) plate and it really bothers me…(OK, jokes about “monstrous” ….here.). I will get an illegal small one in a couple of weeks, possibly mounted like Martin’s in pane #16 or maybe low and to one side.
Get the Honda dealer to say you have overheated the engine (can you find someone’s invoice for parts etc? Martin’s maybe?). Mount your plate to one side so it blocks the mist light a little. Get a cop to write you a ticket for partially covering the mist light (or just say you have been stopped several times for that). Then demand (for safety reasons, of course) that you be allowed to get a small plate. Then, just when they are dithering, show them the photo of Martin’s car (if it doesn’t get him in trouble…).
Maybe my comments are misplaced, but I just had too say something… Good luck.

Yes London is nice.
But I had an adventure last time I was there. Here in Belgium we had a national holiday on the 21st July so I went to London before going to Quaife. I stepped out of the taxi at Warren Street Tube Station, and all hell broke loose. It turned out to be one of the stations that had had an attempted suicide bomber. I guess he ran past us in escape, but I didn’t notice anything except an avalanche of police. Took me 3 hours to get back to where I had parked the NSX. What a day!
Not only London has nice cars. When you drive all around the UK, you see masses of special cars. They drive them everywhere everyday. It’s really worth it just to drive around. Wow.
Also, this year we went to the 24 hours race at LeMans. We spent three and a half days camping there. 90% of the people there are British with the most amazing variety of cars, 5% Danish and the rest of us from other countries. A few French people were there. It was like being in England except driving on the right (and it didn’t rain…). Forget about the race. Just walking around the camping sites is worth it. And everybody there is nice to speak with because we all have one thing in common. 3 billion petrolheads all in one place. Wow, really nice experience. You should plan to go there sometime. And the drive down there is incredible. I came off the motorway into a Peage and turned the corner and all the cool cars in Britain were there in line waiting to pay! That’s a moment I will never forget. It’s worth it to take the road from Calais to LeMans just to see that! All the way down there I saw hundreds of special cars. Some fast, some slow, but all British. Anyway, back to the point, London is cool.

Hi

I got home from London on late monday evening after a weekend in London.

I have tons of pictures from the trip. I did not bother to take that much pictures of nice Porsche's because there where everywhere.

Did see some 355's and a 360 and also a Lambo. But no NSX.

Among a lot of other things I visited Henley's or something. Big toystore near Oxford Street. Searched the place for a NSX die cast model. Nothing. They had the Raybrig NSX model with engine and all that, but no small models.

So I guess the NSX is not only rare on the streets there but also in the stores as a model. :)

Regards

Super rare on the streets Martin, but no more rare as model than in the states. I have purchased an NSX model in Shepards Bush.

Steve

London is NOT a non-casino city.

London is not a non Casino city. I could tell you all the tube stations, but it would drive me bonkers. There is one at Marble Arch and they are huge on single 0 roulette in London.

London "is" a casino city just not the size and scope of the rest of Western Europe.

London "is" a casino city just not the size and scope of the rest of Western Europe. Most of the larger tube stops have them nearby for the rich tourists.

Sorry about the multiple posts Steve. Had a blip with the edit function.

Hi Richard

Wow it's ten years since I posted the first post after beeing to London.

A lot have happend since then. I have had the pleasure meeting you several times.

I may see you yet again at NSXPO 2014 somewhere. My girlfriend and I are going. Just waiting for the announcment.

Best regards

The toy shop is called Hamleys - it's on Regent Street in the heart of the West End. It has been in existence for over 250 years, as Hamley's since 1881.

The Blue Honda in post #5 is an Integra Type R (DC5), which has been imported from Japan (you can tell because of the shape of the front number plate) - it is an earlier car (as it has the scoops in the top of the front bumper under each headlight).

The other blue car is a Nissan 300ZX, not a Jensen.

Just noticed that this is an old post :redface::redface:

Are the pictures in Norway in Narvik? I can't place the building that the NSX is in. Ah, hang on, it's the Toyota showroom on the south side of Beisfjord Bridge on the E6.

This is a RSX I think. I did not see if it had left steering or right. But I guess it was grey imported from Japan? They do not sell RSX's in Europe

That is not an RSX, Acura is only NA. It is a DC5 ITR, you can tell by the Type R wheels, side markers, lip kit, rear spoiler, and also the Brembo BBK. And from the front I think I spy an intercooler possibly?

They do sell EDM Type Rs, not just JDM.

Correct, but DC5 was never officially sold in Europe.

Hi

Yes this is an old thread. A blast from the past

It is the Toyota building across the bridge yes. You know your Narvik. :) i had the NSX there during my stay in London that weeknd. They were having a exibition were they showed of interesting cars in the neigbourhood. Mine was a interesting one and still is after all these years.

I like that Integra imported grey or not. Many years after this thread I changed my daily beater from a 1983 Vw Golf I to a 08 Honda Civic Mugen Si. Very happy with it.

And Passline yes I enjoyed the trip. It was a suprise that we ended up there.

Best regards
