Hi Everyone.

I wanted to update this as its been a while. And I've received a few emails

It may take me some time to help people with various questions and parts.

In 2014 [i think] I fell into a coma over nite in bed.

The story is one that books could be written from; even close to the film: The Time Travellers Wife or Bourne Supremacy. Basically I'm a young healthy man, don't drink or smoke age 37 work hard "HUGE" passion for cars and restoration work etc. Anyway I head to my bed with my long life partner, giver her a kiss good nite and snuggle up tight for the nite.

5 Months later........ I wake up in hospital.........Got partial Memory loss, vision gone, can't talk, breath, walk, most of the normal functions gone. I couldn't hold cutlery right in my hands.

So what happened would you all say...........Well I took a very Very rare Extreme version of a brain malfunction called Encephalitis. The type of this condition I caught is so rare, that they still don't know what they are dealing with? The specialist here continue to speak to other specialists in UK and further afield regularly.

I'm in and out of hospital every so often still..... and on allot of medication. I'm currently on 29 tablets a day and that's been reduced to that number!! I used to have to jab myself with a steroid, plus take a build up fluid however that's now gone.

It's now been a while since I've been out, but still hard......I have an amazing Doctor that won't give up on the fight. I would give up quicker than him. These guys don't get enough recognition.

I still have partial memory loss, my spelling is not good unless the computer system does it for me lol. It took me hours to remember how to login in here and reset password etc. All good there now. I can't write that great by hand yet, which is annoying if wanting to take a quick note or for me to create a new artist drawing of wiring looms and so forth.

Anyway I won't bore you Gentleman and Ladies any longer. Just remember to kiss your partner good nite and kids as much as you can......

SO How has everyone been?

Wow, sorry to hear about what happened but glad you're back. Talk about an eye opening experience.

Whoah.. props to you and your doc for fighting the good fight there. Hope everything continues to smooth out bit by bit. That really really is quite the ordeal.. kind of thing that's absolutely eerie to even think about.

Thank you... It's been a long battle. I hardly remember my friends or cousins either. I could pass them in a shop, or people say hello and I have no idea who they are still. It's only when they fill in the gaps, does some things come back. I have a 4 year old son, I don't remember anything about him at all. I was there for his birth and he spent most of the time with me growing up as my partner worked too. So I was mum and dad allot due to her job and time scale. This is very difficult part, not remembering him or time together.

Jumping back and forward through time is a strange feeling. When I feel a seizure coming on, I seem to go WAY back in time. When you tell this story, nobody really believes it lol. I have to wear a dog tag bracelet on my arm with all the details in case it happens when I'm out. As I say, you need to watch "time travellers wife" as its close to that lol

During your "absence", what was the most shocking world wide news when you started reading and watching again?

Well first I didn't believe I owned a Lamborghini Diablo lol and the rest of the toys......Then one day when I had a shower, I noticed I had a tattoo on my shoulder blade! Worldwide wide news would be from memory, the world was pretty settled, not too bad when I was awake away back first. ......I wake up,and it's just crazy now. Can't take in the amount of shocking things that's happening.

I forgot I owned an NSX, plus run a refresh program for them over here too; and was a member here and UK club. I also own the NIpistonheads face book club, but don't know how to use it. Thinking of getting a friend to run it if he has time.

There is probably more I could add, but just jumping through time to remember. Thanks to a few good friends on UK club has helped.

One thing more I remember is:........I took a seizure not long after I was out of hospital which took me to a time that; myself, brother, and 2 best friends were going out for a nite in a club. I however didn't hang about for them as I was the only one with a girlfriend lol. So I moved on to pick her up in my car......In the club I took a real bad feeling [ even my partner then said I looked sick] next thing my godfather [ I think] entered the club took me out and I was taken to his home. This is where I was told my brother and one of best friends were killed in a car crash, my 3rd best friend was alive but unsure if he was going to make it.........he broke his neck.....and was in real bad shape.......I'm glad to say he pulled through and we are like brothers now.... So there you go! Not a good brain disorder to have.

I'm glad we can all joke about this now but it looks like you still have some recovering to do. You're jovial attitude and the seriousness of this almost makes me think.. "this is a joke right?"

Damn.. let me absorb this and get back to you! Glad you woke up man!

viral encephalitis is no joke, your hospital did a good job to keep all of your other organs going while your brain recovered...half the battle is your own immune response and inflammation..thus the steroids...also the human brain is not as well equipped to handle the swelling as other parts of the body..welcome back!!

That is truly an amazing story. Best wishes on a complete recovery! And I'm looking forward to seeing he movie.

How do you prevent this Doc?

I don't think the aluminum foil hat I wear on a daily basis is enough anymore.

Excellent heart warming story. I'm glad your awake and wish you a full recovery. I'm sure your wife is relieved. I can't imagine what the last 5 months have been like for her.

In the states we have wee and eee...thats eastern and western equine encephalitis , it is a more acute illness than say the mad cow disease that made all the news years back. Its a crap shoot really...you have to be exposed and have a few holes in your immune T cell response, and probably a whole bunch of other molecular events unique to you...the number of cases is low each year, not enough to make the news.

This is not a joke story! And there are friends on here and NSX uk club that were at the hospital to visit me.

So pics may help you Ryu.

lol that's what one of my good friends tried when I got out and could kinda of speak.....he said do you remember about the jet ski in one of your garages? [i didn't even know it was there?] I obviously back then didn't believe I had one? So he copped in I wasted sure I owned it so said "Oh that's right I mean it's mine, your just storing it lol] new at that stage he was giving me a few fibs lol.

Do you remember you promised to give my $5?

I go on the NSX Club Britain site quite often Sudesh, as your posts as well as those by Kaz are always very informative. I couldn't quite figure out what happened as you were not there all of a sudden. Nobody else on the UK site was mentioning you, so I figured you found something more interesting to spend your time on. Maybe a Lambo site somewhere!

Unfortunately you were not off doing fun and interesting things, you were fighting for your life. It should be a wake up call to anyone, just how quick your life can change. I've had two good friends in the last little while not get a second chance, as it appears you have. One was struck down with cancer, and the other caught a heavy door on a enclosed car trailer in the temple when a gust of wind caught it.

I'm glad you are on the mend Sudesh, and welcome back to our little community. I'm looking forward to learning new things about the NSX and cars in general from you in the future, as you obviously have a real passion for things automotive. All the best to you and your family.

Neurologist here....viral meningitis is no joke. You are lucky to be alive. Glad you are alive to share your story! Hope you can drive your NSX or Lambo soon, that would be great therapy for you.

So I've been told Bob! They said at one point I was gone for 2 or I think 3 minis..... It's nice to be to be back and share the story with others as allot never heard of this. Plus to just be totally fine that day; then climb into bed and wake up 5 months later wondering what is what was very strange. Still finding out things now lol.

It's a case of Chrono-Impairment maybe?

most likely given your age and 5 month course you likely had adem

Wow!!! Glad you're still around to tell this story....

Got some questions for you.

Do your doctors expect an eventual full recovery? Hopefully!!!

How is your vision doing?

Do you remember anything about the coma, or does it seem like you were sleeping for 5 hours instead of 5 months ??

Hope you're back on the track soon!!!!
