best radar detector?

Our company has all of them, including the redline, Max, current V1, Cobra, RMD, etc.

When you're deciding between top tier detectors ($350+) it comes down to preference. I use an STI Magnum most of the time.

The Max looks and performs well, but the retention clip is an all new design which doesn't work very well. It vibrates on its proprietary "sticky cup", which falls off every few days.

I love my Valentine 1. Including the helpful arrows. (Anyone dissing them probably hasn't used a Valentine 1 much.) I couldn't be happier.

One correction:

did you know that you can go Valentine 1 website and check to see if your V1 is up to date? If you didn't you should and enter your serial number and check if it need update you can just send it in and they'll update it for you for free. If you have the old V1 they change it out for you and send the new slim V1 for just only $50 buck!
The price to change out from my old V1 is $279, not $50.

I have the V1 on all my cars except the NSX which came with a Passport X50 detector and a ZR3 laser shifter. I like them both. But the X50 with the laser shifter has saved my a$$. On the way back from NSXPO last month our convoy of three NSXs was hit buy a Laser from a cop on the shoulder just outside of New Orleans, LA. Red-nsx (driving his Imola) called on the walkie talkie asking if I got a laser signal. I told him my jammer activated. He said I thought so, he was looking at his gun and our cars with a puzzled look. The convoy was protected.

I have a v1 and escort 8500. I had to turn the laser detection off on the escort because it kept going off all the time. I have also had to send it in twice for service. The v1 has been flawless.

I am really interested to try out an Escort Redline. Super advanced tech in that one.

I've got a Redline, because I wanted the long distance alert....I've had Ka alert go off with the radar being at least 10 miles or more out....so much so that you start to think it was a false alert. Tests show that the Redline will or has detected up to 20 miles out on flat land..

Now the bad,,,,,city is if'y... too sensitive, but the auto filter works well. I think I'm going to get a Valentine for city and use my Redline for the highway road trips. or use both.

Forgot to mention you can ADD the Jammer to the Redline when you're ready....that's the nice part. Jammer mounts in the grill or front. Plus I like the mute . volume button on the cigarette power adapter. It's worked very well.

Just added the Live app for my Redline...you use a new Bluetooth enabled DC plug for the radar detector and pair it with your smartphone & app. I was skeptical, but with the live data this thing rocks....best of both worlds, the Redline has great long distance ability and the live data keeps you posted of "Live Cops" (that's what the radar detectors readout says) as well as red-light cams, speed cams etc...Best money and upgrade I've latched onto in years.
