Carbon Fiber Overlays -NEW VENDOR-

I hope everyone received their parts. I actually know how to do this but tend not to do it as often and only one vehicle at a time since i do not have the time to do a lot of cars at once. I also know that many people see the quoted price and  but, you do pay for what you get in return. Also, be careful as they now make black fiberglass that is not carbon fiber. So make sure your paying for the right product. You can tell if you know what your looking for. Also, shouldn't the original vendor have a vendor page as i thought it was a requirement when selling items and services such as this?

In his defense I highly doubt he's trying to screw people over. He probably does this part time like a few of us do and if there's a problem or bump in production it's prolonged.

I'm not making excuses for him but things do happen... Just sucks that it always has something to do with carbon fiber parts, hahaha.

Anyways nobody has even posted reasons why things are taking so long. Even the vendor has been MIA on here.

Sorry, I disagree - communication is the key to success. I understand things happen, issues come up, production can be delayed for whatever reasons (professional or personal), but it takes all of 10 seconds to come into this thread and do a courtesy to update your customers.

It never ceases to amaze me that people always line up to send parts and/or money to a new and unknown person on prime who does not own an nsx, has never met anyone here, has no track record, has no references, who does this as a glorified hobby in his garage and and has no actual ties to the nsx community.

He may come through but he hasn't logged on since 12/22 and nobody here is willing to actually post any substantial details of any texts or other communications they may have had with him. Sorry to say that I have no empathy for anyone who may have lost parts/money.

Obviously there is a market for these kinds of products, but why must the average nsx owner time and time again deal with untested hobbiests actualy sending parts to someone they saw posting on a free internet site:confused: There has to be a reason reputable brick and morter establishments don't provide these, like sos:confused:

Basic outline of the DIYer (your link). The issue with the process is money, correct ambient temperature environments (controlled, ventilated). Skill to provide a solid weave. I do agree to the, "no magic to the process" to an extent. When you have unorthodox angles and have to provide correct adhesion, resin mix and time is a factor once hardener is applied then I dissagree, it takes practice and patience. The magic comes if a component part has the quality of OEM or better. Laying the carbon is not hard. The preparation, correct materials and hands on takes time to mature in providing excellent pcs.

When I first started lay up I had the same thoughts after reading, watching vids and have previous knowledge in similarities to fiberglass composition. Piece of cake right!!! Wrong, I had ordered composite materials up in the 700 range and got my hands dirty to have an outcome of crap, 700.00 will not net a lot of material. I did try and try again and read more and researched correct materials. To get this process right took several tries and over a grand of materials wasted, not to mention the expensive NSX parts. This all back in 2004, nowadays materials are more readily available making the process a little bit easier. I have yet to see other than Vroom (Jeff), Detlef cantrell and Downforce come out with quality parts. Even they will have hiccups.

As for our veteran and veteran NSX owners stepping up and producing parts other than the already who are, boils down to many factors. If the market is large for the NSX group sure you would see more competition in this field. As of right now it isn't happening.

I have been working on this for a little over two years. I am still in the process. I have noticed once a quality part has been posted with a killer price, that part is sold quickly. Advantage is to have parts readily available instead of made to order. Core exchanges etc. Inventory build up is key a long with excellent quality. I understand why certain vendors go about their business in the manner they do.

As for the part time hobbiest, unless this is full time many of the buyers will not have any choice unless they outsource elsewhere.

Did a little "snoopin" and might have found out about this guy if his name is Travis Ryan Cook, DOB: 09/23/1979<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice"

He has had five (5) speeding tickets in the past two years.

Looks like he is suing a company in Mesa, AZ, called: http://www.airbagit.com/

Here is a link to the owner's of the above residence. Take note that the last name is actually spelled "Cooke." Wonder if Alexander and Mellissa Cooke are Ryan's parents?

Look like its his work. Same similiar photo from page one. He called me today and give me some news, he ran out of resin he normally. Used. Tried some resin from local and it did not work. The weave would not bond to the resin or something like that. He will have to order more from Florida, so now my parts will get push back another 3wks. 1 wk for resin to show up, 2 wks to complete the rest. He will also ship me the one he had finished. I was supprised he actually called. Anyway, just an update for everyone whos following this. So now we waits even more. He offered to return and refund me but i said finish what you started.

5 tickets in two years? Geez. To think, my last one was 2001, then prior to that was 1996.
