You may as well drain it from the hose at the bottom of the tank. There are other specific drain locations (radiator and engine block) but it won't make the job any easier, and may make it more difficult to bleed the system when you are finished.
Leave the cap on the tank, remove the top hose, loosen the bottom hose, remove the three screws holding the tank on, then remove the lower hose and cover the lower tube hole with your thumb. You will get some coolant spilling, just hose it off. Then you can drain the tank out of the car.
Any other way will cause you to have to bleed, too much work for a tank swap IMO.
I exchanged my tank and was able to do so w/o spilling a drop. I put a clamp on the lower hose and syphoned the coolant out of the tank. When removing the tank tilt it toward the firewall to prevent any remaing coolant from spilling out of the lower spout.
