Gents,
Got a notice in the mail to do a sound test because my new Taitec lightweight + headers are too loud.
I though the test was at idle or near to idle so I was not worried because the exhaust is pretty docile at low RPM. I found out the test it at 5500 rpm which I think is kinda high!
Kinda pissed to tell you the truth because I see big stonking v8's all the time here without issues - with our culture though, these always seem to be ok.
Oh well, the testers told me to put the OEM muffler back on - that should bring it under the 92 db I need - any suggestions if it does not? Do not want to remove the headers because of cost and the following reason
I went to the box of my old parts that I recieved from the dealer when I got the headers installed and I noticed the tail section (where the 02 sensor fits) of my OEM headers had been cut off!!!!!!!! When the parts were installed, I found out there was an adaptor missing from the headers the the muffler, so I asked them to make up an adaptor piece - the dealer is kinda far from me and I could not afford to bring it back there. They outsourced it to an exhaust place they said was reputable and that did a lot of their work.
I jacked the car up and sure enough, there is my chopped off peice attached the the new headers and exhaust
I rang the dealership and, well, I "spoke" to them about it and they seem very sorry about it and said they would figure something out - we'll see. I'll hold off judgement until I find out more.
All in all a very strange couple of days.
