That's actually one of a series of videos. In the others, they run various NSXs against:
Supra Turbo
BMW M3 (E36 Euro spec)
Mazda RX-7
Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R-33)
Porsche 911 Carerra 4 (993)
All tests were performed on the same day, same course, same conditions, so there is a bit of validity to them. Driver may be a factor, but they did multiple runs with multiple drivers, and all the drivers are professional drivers, so IMHO, it's less of a factor as it seems. I think the videos do show the variances possible between different examples of the same car though, as technically, on paper, the NSX S-Zero should be the fastest of the NSXs, but it was the slowest.
You have to see the video to get the full effect, but in particular, the BMW, Porsche, and Toyota, got destroyed in this particular battle.
IMHO, I think the Nissan Skyline GT-R V-spec R-33 is the most impressive of the field, as it's the only 4-seater with a usable trunk, yet it can keep up w/ the others no problem. I remember hearing a blurb on a Japanese video that I saw once that Honda introduced the NSX Type R in 1992 because they thought the NSX was getting beaten too often on the track by Skyline GT-Rs.
I don't think many people outside of Japan know about the Best MOTORing series of videos, which is why you don't see these videos pop up much on the various forums.
Best trap times ranked 1st to last:
NSX Type-S (12.877)
NSX Type-R (13.185)
NSX Type-S Zero (13.045)
Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec R-33 (13.030)
Ferarri F355 (13.078)
BMW M3 E36 Euro Spec (13.633)
Mazda RX-7 (13.726)
Porsche 911 Carerra 4 993 (13.849)
Toyota Supra Turbo (14.058)
Best Top Speeds for the road course (banked curve followed by a straightaway):
Ferarri F355 (160.96 mph)
Mazda RX-7 (157.52 mph)
NSX Type-S (157.45 mph)
BMW M3 E36 Euro Spec (157.28 mph)
NSX Type-S Zero (156.65 mph)
Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec R-33 (155.46 mph)
Porsche 911 Carerra 4 993 (145.41)
NSX Type-R (not tested)
Toyota Supra Turbo (not tested)
As a sidenote, Best MOTORING also tested (different date, time, place) a heavily modified Toyota Supra vs. a McLaren F1, and the Supra gets thouroughly destroyed, although you have to see the video for the dramatic effect. The Supra seemed to have a problem with keeping the tires planted at launch, while the Mclaren's launch seemed effortless.
Mclaren F1 (11.045)
Modified Supra (12.741)
Top speed for a 0.62 mile road course:
Mclaren F1 (171.75 mph)
Modified Supra (157.70 mph)
Yet another race (different time/place/conditions) features:
Porsche 911 Turbo 996 (12.450)
Nissan Skyline GT-R V-spec R-34 (13.031)

I've seen this video several times. Im just curious why it never surfaces in the middle of all those 'Overpriced and Underpowered' NSX bashings on other sports car forums?
