Hennessy Supercharged NSX Conversion Help Needed

Ric has it right. I'm just trying to remove and sell the Hennessey equipment, and install all CT stuff that will be CARB legal and pass Smog. Because my motor has been reinforced internally (low compression), I would also like to get the smaller pulley and run about 9psi or so. I went by CT a few days ago, spoke with Nate, and ordered the SC, headers, and air box. I'm thinking that Shad should probably do the tuning to pass smog and make it all run right. At least that's the plan.

As a FYI, in the state of CA the Comptech kit is only CARB legal with the 6 psi pulley (slightly different pulley diameters for different motors/years), OEM injectors and the OEM computer/engine management. Using the 9 psi pulley, larger injectors and aftermarket engine management "technically" makes it non-CARB legal.

See the details in the Exemption Orders below.
Here are all the Comptech Machine EO CARB numbers for all the various versions of the Comptech Superchargers for the NSX.

If you happen to have the newer "CT Engineering" supercharger (which is the same except for the logo), then use this one:

The current CT Engineering supercharger is a Lysholm 1600AX.

If u are running forged 2618 pistons with a lower CR u can run more than 9psi. Try something like 15psi.

I'm at 9.2:1 CR with wiseco 2618 forged piston and run 13psi on costco gas - no injection of any sort.

Nate mentioned this too. However, what is the likely hood that anyone would be able to determine that the pulley you were running was not legal? It seems that they would look for the CARB number for the kit and press on. I would assume that this wouldn't change anything with the sniffer test either. I may be wrong here on both accounts.

I believe that my compression is 9.2:1 as well. As for the pistons I don't have a clue.

I think the engine management is what might get you. If you have a piggyback unit that might be ok, but if you change it out completely bypassing the ability to connect to the OBD system, you may have a problem since that's a smog check step.

You are right!!! The smog texh will not use a caliper to measure your pulley and it is possible to pass smog because 15 and 25 mph will spin your pump but not enough to produce any boost. I just passed my smog just make sure you have a good Catalytic Converter and CARB sticker.
