Just wanted to get an idea of who is coming to the TDE event June 12th wknd.

Come on you Houston people- TWS is the ideal track to open up a NSX. I am hoping to see atleast 5 NSX's. 6 or so would be awesome.

btw, just ignore my posting time.:p

Sure. And you can get a ride with one of the instructor types too - just to see what you're missing!

S.L.

We usually start around 8am. , and break for lunch 11:30 or 12 ish. Sometimes they let spectators make parade laps during lunch. After lunch, the afternoon sessions begin and run till 4:30 - 5.

Should be atleast 5 NSX on the Track. and the funny thing is that they all will be different colors- Yellow BBSC, White BBSC, Blue, Silver, and Red.- will be quite a site:cool:

btw, I am bringing 2 new guys to the track from tyler. That will make 8 regulars for Team Tyler. (Hint, Hint, You Houston people I met last wknd)

As usual, I had a great time (Nick, where were you?) and have a few pictures to share:

I ran into a little rain on the drive up Saturday morning, but the weather at College Station was nice the entire weekend:

Sorry, I coun't be there b/c i had to take my wife out for our anniversary. You know, i either pay for it now with dinner and flowers or make it up later with some blingbling. :(

Btw, great pictures. Seems like you guys had a fun time.

great pics ojas- thanks. Wow, that was a blast. Thanks, S.L. and Chris as usual. See you guys next time.

btw ojas, let me know how the rotor issues turn out.

The red NSX needs some anti-roll bars, bad!

I think I know what you mean. The good news is the money you saved by “pay[ing] for it now” should more than cover the costs for next event... plus drinks for all of us. ;) Seriously, I’m looking forward to seeing you at the next one. I think you’ll have a fantastic time.

The manufacturer is working with me to diagnose the cause of the failure. I’ll be sure to post the outcome.

Thanks S.L. for everything including your advice about the rotors. Also, Chris, I appreciated the ride in your BBSC-powered NSX and you introducing me to the “dark side” (boost + your driving style). It was a fun ride... almost as fun as watching you flog S.L.'s NSX around the track the last year. :D

It has aftermarket anti-roll bars.

I have Dali Street/Track bars. But, the rest of the susp. is stock. I probably need to adjust the sway bars for the next event. I am also trying to figure out which shock/springs to go with- or should I just forget about it and get a Elise.;) :D

It was a great time for all. Andy makes a valid point about roll in the newer cars. I essentially have the same setup as NSXLuvr and experience the same roll behaviour. I have Dali sways and stock suspension also. I additionally can see another difference between the coupes and the T's in the torsional rigidity (longitudinal twisting of the body). On the photographer's web site is a photo of me in virtually the same position as one of the above photos of Ojas (here: http://www.dotphoto.com/GuestViewImage.asp?AID=1589162&IID=49101645) . In the photo of me you can observe a fair amount of "twist" in the body, while in the photo of Ojas, there is no discernable "twist". I'm wondering if simply moving to bilstein's I can get rid of some of that roll.

Hmmmm,

S.L.

What kind of rotors are those?? I was just wondering , because last year at the brake session the rep. from Brembo mentioned that slotted rotors should not have the slot extend all the way to the edge of the rotor. He claimed that the leading edge of the rotor is key in the strength of the entire rotor. I just find it interesting that with that said, your rotor cracked right at the slot portion, and your were cut right to the edge.

This is what I meant. You can see how these slots don't extend to the edges.....

jadkar, That’s very interesting. The rotors are Powerslots. I purchased them from RM Racing. They were practically new (about 500 miles on them) when one of the front rotors cracked. I followed the bedding procedure that came with my pads and was easy on the brakes for the first few hundred miles (until I got to the track).

Were you at NSXPO last year, and if so did you get a chance and sit in on the brake session?

The Brembo dude was real clear when he talked about the stresses involved with an incorrectly slotted rotor. Also, I'm not knocking your rotor purchase, just trying to help with failure possibilities:):)

Just as another example, look at the NSX Type R rotors as seen here on the SOS site. Same thing, not slotted to the edge, almost, but not quite.

I’m afraid I was not at last year’s NSXPO. Looks like I missed out on a great technical session.

Oh, I’m very glad you brought up the issue with this rotor design. Actually, I would have stuck with stock rotors (my brakes are 100% stock other than the pads), but came across a deal on the Powerslots, so I thought I’ve give them a try.

Funny you mention the NSX-R rotors. After you made your post yesterday, I paid closer attention to the design of other rotors and noticed the same thing on the NSX-R, Stoptech, and others.

I’m waiting to hear back from the Powerslot representative. If he cannot prove to me that the failure was caused by some fault of my own, I’ll start a thread in one of the other forums to get some advice.
