Gents,

I'm South African and the owner of a 1997 Lotus Esprit Turbo, Honda NSX'es were never exported to this country, unfortunately! I am however in the process of fitting a c30a engine into the Lotus but only found out after the purchase that it turns the “wrong way around” I now have a mid-engined car with 5 reverse and 1 forward gear! I think the NSX engine will be absolutely perfect for the Lotus so don’t want to get rid of it, I need advice, please!! I want to fit the engine longitudinally, not transverse as in the NSX and need a transaxle that also turns the "wrong way around" or any other suggestions, I will be extremely grateful for any advice, please!

Some of the Renault transmissions can be modified to flip the ring gear to the other side. I dont know about the UN1 series.
I am now curious though.

You may be able to use a vw 091 trans. I know there is an adapter system that will work with that motor. Does the trans sit behind the motor or in front of it?

Good day Sir, the Transaxle sits behind the engine, will investigate the possibility, thank you very much for your reply!

Good day Shawn

I will have to look at the layout of the Legend, the Lotus is mid-engined, longitudinally mounted, not a single Honda transmission available in SA works in the Lotus, might have to look outside our borders for this, thank you very much for your advice!

Sir,

According to a local transmission specialist this ring gear flip is possible with the Lotus(Citroen) transaxle, this looks like the solution I've been looking for! Thank you very much! Thank you also to all the gentlemen that replied with solutions to my dilemma, much appreciated indeed!!

Legend transmission will not work as the separate and under the engine (behind the crank pulley), you really need a Renault or Porsche transaxle. (look in to a G50 axle)
A Getrag from longitudinally mounted Audi (A4,A6 FWD) could be a possibility but it may not be able to handle the power.
