I plan on getting bigger wheels in the near future but in the mean time I just want to lower it with the stock 16"/17" wheels cos I can't stand that huge gap. If I drop it now and get the alignment done, would I need to get alignment done again when I put the 17"/18" aftermarket wheels on?

If you drop it, you'll need an alignment. If you just change tire size, you won' t need an alignment.
