Hi everybody,
I am leaving in north of Paris.
I went to my Honda dealer for information concerning maintenance (timing belt...) for my NSX to have an estimate...but It doesn't seem to intereste them.
So if you have any recommandation of garage able to work/maintenance of NSX, please revert to my message.
I saw a NSX specialist in Netherland (but 500 kms from me).

For most Honda dealers in Europe it's an old car, obviously. But there are some exceptions, dealer or independant.
In general, it's highly recommded to drive a further distance to a specialist than the next shop. Good luck!

Don't freak out when you hear the quote. In Switzerland you have to pay around 6k minimum for a TB/WP job.

A.S. Motorsport in the Netherlands is very good. There is also Kaz in the UK, but also about 500 km to his place. You are smart to look for a specialist. Like goldNSX said, it's an old car and most Honda dealers have nobody who understands how to work on it. It is easy to make a mistake in the engine maintenance work on the NSX, so it is worth the drive to the specialist.

The latest news in Switzerland are that since this year one specific dealer will specialise on old NSXs and offers his service for all other official dealers. Even if you bring your car to shop x they're likely to ship it to the specialised shop z. This is for the German part of CH, not sure about the French part. Even the biggest dealers don't see many NSX nowadays and want to concentrate on selling new cars, so it makes pretty much sense to have one single specialist.

There might be a similar solution in France too.

hello everybody, I have some news of my Honda dealer; for time timing belt the price would be 1900 EUR (parts and work). They have few NSX in maintenance and the guy seems to know the car.

1900 EUR is a good price.

Question is: does it HAVE to be in France?

There is one in Austria (Austrian Type R) which does maintenance on many NSX's over the years and who has a chuge stock of parts.
As far as I know he also offers to pick the car up at the owner.
My NSX was serviced in Germany, at https://honda-reis.de/go.to/modix/now/startseite.html.
Did a really big service there by means: timing belt, clutch, transmission, all cooling hoses etc. etc.
He did it very well.
For me it was a drive of 330 km one way but I prefer using an experienced dealer and have a longer way than the other way round

In the Netherlands, you have also Hontec who is specialized in the NSXs and gets some good reviews from some owners around me (Lille) and Paris.

Good news and good price. I paid 1200 CHF for the job (without parts) in Switzerland. Essential is the confidence you have in the guy. There is nothing very special in doing the TB-WP. It is a V6 like many others. Access can be tricky but still ok even with the motor in if you tilt is a bit. Coolant flush takes time.

Did you take your decision, Onechou ?
I finally put mine at a specialised Honda shop in Belgium. it's pretty expensive (5k €) only for TB/WP but they know very well the car. In fact, the chief mechanic has one of the best low mileage NSX in Europe...
Next times, I will go to Hontec, they are real experts and charge half the price.

Quite impressive (or should I say fishy?) that the different quotes differ that wildly.

Yes indeed. This is the first Honda I bring to a official shop, and I always heard that official Honda labor is very expensive. Now I can confirm :)

I think it's more some sort of 'NSX-premium' they're trying to rip out of an owner because they think they can afford it.

TB/WP is something like 8-10 hours job with motor in. Don't know how many hours more with motor out. Multiply by the average hourly rate in your area.

With engine out it's about 35-40 manhours, depending on the experience and additional work. This includes new injector seals and new coolant hoses incl. radiator ones. Without that it's around 30 manhours with engine out. With having the engine out you're saving some time working on the engine but it's quite a lot of work to reassemble it and doublecheck...
