Anyone seen this before? It's a DIY kit car supercar! Check out the video!

From article:

You get dihedral doors that open by sliding your hand along the bodywork. You get a twin-turbo, flat-plane-crank 3.8-liter V8 that howls out 592 horsepower and hurtles the car to 60 mph in about 3 seconds. And you get an ingenious suspension design that uses cross-linked hydraulic chambers in place of conventional shock absorbers, delivering both a shockingly supple ride and race-car roll control. In short, the MP4-12C is a lot of car for the money. But it's still a lot of money.

So what do you do if you want top-tier supercar performance and dramatic mid-engine styling, but you only have $50,000 to spend? Enter the Factory Five GTM. With a 420 horsepower GM LS3 V8 propelling only 2,400 pounds, this is one of the few cars that would hound an MP4-12C on the track. (A 505-horsepower LS7 is also available, but frankly the LS3 seems pretty adequate.) You do have to be handy with a wrench, since the GTM is a component car.

Wouldn't it be great if you could have a screaming-fast, reliable, exotic-looking mid-engine sports car for something more like $15,000? Without spoiling the ending, we have a solution for that, too.

Very interesting! So this is what I saw at the Pavilions a few weeks back. It looks quite stunning in person...the car is super low! I had no idea what it was at the time, but took a few photos.

Interesting; I also read the article. What is the chassis made of? Do they send one large piece or is it also assembled? I think modifying a used C6 might make more sense to achieve similar power although this thing is significantly lighter.

Yep that's it, it is very low but a little too long maybe?

Found this from the website:
The frame is made of mig-welded, high strength 1020 and mild carbon steel tubing and plate steel. This special design incorporates a low center of gravity, high torsional rigidity, and solid safety features that delivers true Supercar performance in a safe and secure vehicle design.

You guys are talking about the GTM and no it cant tear a McLaren MP4-12C up ona track...lol

And you also need to buy a donor car to build it.. thats where the motor, door handles, ect come from.

Ive seen GTM's with 100k invested sit for sale at 45k

lol....Be careful

I would like to see some owners talk about final price.
The kit cost $20,000, a used corvette z06 drivetrain I would guess would be under $10,000.

But the logic in me says there's NO WAY it's that cheap.....

HAHA..... I guess I should be flattered! I would never ever do a kit car BUT....If was going to consider one.... I would consider the Ultima or Noble because they are both basically production cars and not true "come in boxes" kit car.

Btw, It would be much cheaper to find a C6 and gut it out! Finally... A good Driver in a Spec Miata Turbo could also beat a 12C. It might, just might have something to do with the driver!
