Mita S Wheels & Tires Experiences/Reviews?

I'm thinking about picking up a set of Mita's Type-S replicas (https://www.mitamotorsports.com/nsx-exterior/s-wheel), in 16x7+40 & 17x9.5+45 and wondering if anybody has any experience or feedback on them. I see plenty of the info here from when they were first available on how to get a set, but nothing in the way of "I bought these and they are awesome/awful/they really don't rub/they really come alive with taller/shorter sidewalls" etc.

I'm stubborn on keeping factory 16/17 sizing, but any feedback on finding tires would also be much appreciated. Currently on stock seven blades, so I assume it wouldn't be that much of a difference.

Thanks.

plenty of good rubber for both street and track still available for 16/17, just go 215/45F and 255/40R.

I've heard no complains about MITA reps.

Mine were the first set made. I went with 16x7 (45 mm) and 17x9 (40 mm) My concept was to make the offsets like running a set of moderate spacers (10 mm front, 20 mm rear)) on OEM Type-S wheels. Car is still in assembly so I haven't had a chance to fit them yet. I went with Continental Extreme Contact Sport 205/45/16 and 245/40/17. Front fitment is perfect. For the rears, in retrospect I would go with 255, since it's a 9" wheel and not 8.5" like OEM 94-01. For you, since you have a 9.5" rear wheel, definitely go with the 255's.

Rears (on top). Ever so slightly stretched- 255's will look perfectly square.

These look great. Not sure how wide this rubber runs but wonder if 205F and 255R would be too much of a spread for TCS to handle. That's if you have one [emoji6]

I deleted TCS fully, including on the throttle body. :D But, the diameters should be ok for the TCS logic.

Hadn't even considered how TCS would feel about the extra width, but I would imagine it wouldn't be that upset, since I think 02+ was a 9" rear width anyways, and what's another half inch ?

Have you loose-fitted them yet Honcho? Mita claims no rubbing (and I can't possibly see how they would with only a -15mm offset vs stock), but never hurts to have a real-world example.

It's not about the wheel width, but tire width. Indirectly but tire width will affect the front/rear ratio (since overall tire dia will be diff) and may throw TCS brain off.

Do you have any photos of the Mita wheels next to the OEM S wheels NSX_n00b has? It would be interesting to see how faithfully they were copied.

I don’t at the moment, but I’ll take one up to Honcho’s on Saturday and do a side by side comparison

We updated the center cap positioning to match more closely to the OEM ones as well as now using a larger cavity rim to allow more Big brake kits.

Overall aside from those nothing else changed from the 2020 model and the 2021 model.
Honcho anticipating to see the wheels mounted on.

@trackaddict has them installed.

I just took delivery of these wheels in the 18/17 combo set. Ill post up when I get tires mounted. The washi grey is a lot lighter in color than the website pix

Do you have any photos?

Here is my car with the S Wheels (17/17). Washi Gray. I agree that the color is lighter than what is represented on Mita's web page. I am running Stoptech Trophy calipers (ST-40) front and rear. No issues with clearance. 215/40 front and 255/40 rear.

Oh, I see 17/18. Can you please let me know what width and offset you went for as o really like the look of the car. Thank you

I don't think the Mita S wheels are available any longer as I am not seeing them on their web site.
