I think it is more of a retro look. Check out this 1964 Ferrari 275 GTB and you'll see the styling reference.

Ferrair is the orginal.

I had an Automobile Mag, but I don’t remember what issue it was.
However, they mentioned that the car's rear end looks allot like the rear end of a 2007 Vette.
Notice the rear window of the 2 cars and just imagine the F599 without the flying buttresses.

Yeah, but no-one ever says "hey, that Supra looks like a 64 Ferrari."

I just did. You don't because you probably were not alive when the 1964 275GTB Ferrari came out.
I first saw it that year at the NY Auto Show and still have the program.( I was twelve)
You kids think you discovered everything.
The Ferrari Maranello and it's descendants all hark-in back to that design. Same with the original Daytona Cobra.Still a hot design.

Supra? Toyota's hot seller in 1964 was the Toyopet Tiara. My dad sold them.

Yeah... you got me on that one... Sept 12 1980 is when I drew my first breath.... Come to think of it... that makes me the same age now as you were when I was born... I am humbled.

HAHAHA

The Ferrari ripping off the Corvette... That's rich.

IF the Corvette and 599 share any styling similarities, it's because Chevrolet ripped them off ogf the 360/430 lines of Ferrari... just as the C5 Vette ripped styling cues off of the NSX.

I see zero similarities in the Vette and 599 rearends. Don't disgrace one of Ferrari's nicest cars in 20 years by comparing it to a plastic car with a big engine.

HAHA, Well said.

I think the 599 is about 10 steps down in appearance from the 575... It looks... funny... literally.

I agree. It just doesn't seem to be a natural evolution of the 575. It has impressive specs but not so impressive looks, and the rims are hideous. Even some of the car mags were criticizing the Ferrari's styling. Look at Lambo, you see a Gallardo and go , the same can't be said for the 599

Ferrari Studio shots = horrid.

They need to fire whoever it is.

These are better. (Just so you can get the essence of the car)

No doubt about it. Whoever at Pinninfarina designed that car is a Corvette owner. Plastico Fantastico!

I thought some Japanese guy designed all of these latest and greatest Ferraris. And i think he's gone now and the designs are going back to Pininfarina.

Ken Okuyama was the previous design chief at Pininfarina. He was recently let go. Apparently they hired Chevy's old chief designer. :)

Well lets hope the blandness of Chevy is because of stiff-collared-CEO's-who-hate-good-design, and not because the designer sucks.

Styling

The car draws on styling cues from its 250 GT and 275 GTB predecessors, as well as the wide 'open mouth' grille of the 612 Scaglietti, and the interior of the Enzo. The car's big 'feature' is the 'flying buttress' B-pillars that help channel air around the curved rear screen without raising drag.

you should have copyright protected that name

I'm not trying to rip on Ferrari. Don’t get me wrong I actually never saw the similarities until I read the article.
and yes i agree with you that it’s a nice car but not my cup of (Ferrari) tea.

I also did a lil search online and came across this

Shown here with its standard 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, the 599 GTB sometimes resembles a Corvette Z06 and sometimes a Viper coupe, but it's still unmistakably a Ferrari Berlinetta design from Pininfarina.
