Hey All I finally have the car to match my avatar.

I bought a 04 Longbeach blue pearl with blue interior. Drove it home from Chicago ( through a two hour traffic jam ) back to Michigan through a really bad storm that we had yesterday.

Questions are

1. Really rough idle. Is this normal?
2. Kinda warm in the car when not running the a/c is this normal?
3. Where do I find what number my car is?
4. Why is first gear kinda tricky?
Positives

Great fuel economy even with the air on.
The wife likes it!

Disappointments

I only got a ride in two 02's before I bought mine ,but had never driven one so I was hoping to get the nirvana you guy's are alway's going on about and hasn't happened yet ( of course I'll keep trying ).

Not enough foot room. I only were a 10.5 ,but it seemed like my feet kept touching while I drove. Anyone else with this problem? ( I felt like bozo )

Thigh support was really uncomfortable after about an hour. Is that why people always ship their NSX?

I finally have a stable of some of my favorite cars. 04 S2000 , 1994 300ZX TT and now the 04 NSX.

The number is on plaques on the rocker panel you step over as you enter the car. It should say something like 4T000066, which would be 2004 car number 66 (or 0066, if you prefer). That number is specific to the US market and might be duplicated in other markets.

It's easier to engage if you blip the throttle slightly, then let it out as the engine revs are falling.

Nope.

Nope again. I find the seats in the NSX to be the most comfortable car seats I've ever sat my big fat ass in. :D (They seem to fit almost everyone extremely well, not just those of ample girth.) I have driven cross-country, with individual non-stop segments up to 450 miles and 5-6 hours, without feeling uncomfortable at all. After NSXPO 2004 ended, I drove from the New York City area to Chicago, a distance of 800 miles, with only one 15-minute stop, in 11 hours, and arrived feeling great!

I'm no specialist, but since I also have an 04, I will try to answer your questions.

1. Really rough idle. Is this normal?
My starts cool every morning around 1600, than drop to 1100, than settle on about 900. But not rough at all.

2. Kinda warm in the car when not running the a/c is this normal?
It get warm fast, but also cool down fast, I think it is because small interior space, plus the engine is right behind you.

3. Where do I find what number my car is?
On the driver's side door sill

4. Why is first gear kinda tricky?
YOu should get it check, my is the smoothest manual I had driven so far.

Not enough foot room. I only were a 10.5 ,but it seemed like my feet kept touching while I drove. Anyone else with this problem?
I'm 6'1", 210lb, 36" waist, 32" inseam, and I do not have this problem, mabe becasue the peddles are closer together than usual.

I think they ship to aviod excess milage, I drove my everyday for the past year. No Problems

Hope these helps.

Incidentally, those are the same as the last eight characters of the VIN (vehicle identification number), which you will find on the dashboard (visible from outside in the lower driver's side corner of the windshield), in the engine compartment, on your bill of sale, on your title, on your registration, on your temporary registration, on your insurance policy and insurance identification card, etc.

1) Congrat's on the purchase.
2) Welcome to the cult
3) I think you've got all the answers you need to most of your questions.

My only other thought is on your concern about foot pedal space. I have small feet (9.5) that are very wide. Certain shoes make driving the NSX a bitch for me. If I stick to boat shoes or something else w/o much hang over on either side, no problem. But thongs, or some dress shoes are a mess.

Thanks guy's.

So if I'm reading this correct I'm #25.

Now I wonder if I can find out how many blue/blue 05's there are

"really uncomfortable after about an hour"
It might be the susp, rather than the seat?
I have had street cars with full race susp.
Zero rubber, heim joints, stiff springs, Koni's, sway bars in alum blocks.
An hour was about all I could take.
(But what a fun hour!)
Seat was comfortable as he_ _. LOL LOL
Just a thought.........

I have it worse than you I wear a 14EEEE I hate to wear my tennis shoes..just not enough room. My sandals are better. Also waiting for my Dali custom seat cushion in blue leather so I can be more confortable with top on. This car was not designed around a 6-4 240 pound man.

Congradulations on the new ride!

I just got my 05 in from Chicago in early April. Had mine delivered. But I can coraborate some of your questions.

Idle - Same problem here. But it seems to have gone away. I wouldn't panic about it, but monitor it. Keep in mind how little it's been driven over the months it's been sitting. Could be the reason...

First Gear - and second for that matter were a little stiff at first. Again, this seems to have worked out with time. I'm just about to cross the 1K mile mark.

Seats - Yeah same problem here. But only after getting the Dali Racing cushion to increase hear room. I know in my case it's about my size and fit.

I have an 02 blue on blue also.
Here are what stick out when i first drove the car, not ever being in one before, and I bought it sight unseen from Mass.
I ground from first to second my first shift! It still grinds sometimes, especially when cold and at a higher RPM.
The shifting seems a little notchy, compared to other sticks I have had.
Head room, leg room are not an issue for me as I am only 5'6". (tall!)
Idle, yes you could say it idles a little rough when cold. I do notice it shakes some and you would think it was not right, but probably just needs to warm up.
Oh and the other thing I noticed that really bothered me was the fact that it was way too quiet ! Finally got a Taitec GT Lightweight last week and now it sounds like it should have come from the factory, as it is much closer to the sound of my 72 Dino! Maybe with an intake and change the timing belt to chains, then it would be closer !!!

I wear wrestling shoes and that helps create more pedal feel and more foot clearance.

I double-clutch when downshifting to 1st and it goes in fine, even at 35 mph.

Congrats on the car....as for the comfort, I find the NSX to be one of the most comfortable cars that I have ever owned. To each his own I guess.

No. Mine has never had a rough idle.

Big bonus there if the wife likes it!

The nirvana happens about 6500 rpm on a twisty road.

I also wear 10.5 / 11. It depends on the shoes. I have a difficult time with boots, too wide. Driving shoes are perfect, nice and narrow.

I'm sure you have adjusted your seat every which way. I believe most people ship to keep the miles off.

Wow! Nice collection.

Congratulations on your new addition.

someday, in a few years lol, i'll finally get to drive one and see if I do infact fit. I don't fit in the corvette, but did in the MR-2 spyder?! wtf haah... i guess I'm built weird and fit in cars oddly
