I guess I didnt go to the right dealer or have the right friends, so my type S order didnt go anywhere. I was lucky to find a "conventional" second gen that fit our criteria. Either Valencia red or indy yellow were the preferences and I didnt want any red anywhere in the cabin or on calipers (clashing bright colors). We actually found such a car within a couple hours of my house that looked good: a 2020 indy yellow on black with under 2k miles. Made a family trip out of it (in a minivan!). This car is awesome. The Y-spoke wheels are probably one of my favorites of any wheel anywhere. I can tell alot of hard work went into designing and making this car. It's a keeper. Just waiting on full PPF in March.20211023_152938.jpg20211105_181802.jpg

Congratulations and enjoy it in the best of health.

I really like that second low angle picture.

I just had mine out yesterday and had a good time as always.

Are you anywhere near the Triple F guys in Ohio (they do a lot of YouTube videos and have a car collection that is hard to describe in words)? If so, maybe you could attend one of their meet ups. They are not into the NSX and keep buying cars that require lots of painful repairs (they recently trailered their Koenigsegg to PA to have a flat tire fixed, PITA).

Yeah I know of them. In 2020, I went on a small rally through hills in southern Ohio and they were on that (I have some great GoPro footage of it). Porsche 918, McLaren Senna, and a P1 that day. The Senna is a monster. My son got to sit in their Chiron in another event they did with Esoteric. Seem to be a good group of guys and they are active in the community. At least they drive these cars and don't let them sit, although when your collection gets that big, you can only put so many miles on each one. I have some ideas of how they could make significantly better content with all that. Its truck driving season now until maybe March so wont be doing anything until then.

This car is so underrated. I had to laugh when I pulled into a cars and coffee with a bunch of Porsche guys that seem to know cars. I pop the front open and they say "oh, so its a hybrid?" Clearly, many people dont even bother to learn about the NSX.

Great spec, enjoy it!

Very cool, they do a lot of community stuff and hats off to them.

They could use some advice. The thing i laugh the most about is they have some scrub childhood friend Brett, I think who they keep on the channel for reasons I cannot figure out.

More recently they have moved out of some cars, like the lemon F40 they had. I would love to hear the reasons for dumping x for y. They moved out of a GT3 for a GT2RS, kind of weird because the GT3 is a car tons of people are crazy about. The folks have so many ultra fast cars so the GT2RS is kind of middle of the pack in their collection (hard to believe).

looking good!

I didnt know they dumped the GT3. They have (or had?) a GT4 as well. I guess that was too many Porsches.

They havent been big Ferrari guys. I think they must be on a special customer list for McLaren though. They have that speedtail that Demuro reviewed. My favorites in the collection are probably between the P1 in blue carbon fiber and the pagani.

I picked up your car's twin in KC. 2020 Indy Yellow with black interior and the Y wheels.

You can see some photos of it getting wrapped EndLeSSprotectivesolutions. https://www.instagram.com/endlessprotectivesolutions/?hl=en

Really love the car. I drove mine back from KC, it had a wrap on it but it was crap so we pulled it off and re did the car. The car is really special and a keeper for me. I'm coming to Acura from Porsche GT cars and couldn't be happier with purchase. I just extended my warranty at my local dealer and plan on keeping it.

Like you, I tried first for the Type S, but passed at 50-100k over sticker is what they wanted. Like you, I wanted yellow and the newest car I could get. I feel like these cars are way under-appreciated and was happy the pricing reflected that.

I have your car's twin - I picked it up at KC Mercedes Benz in November. Same spec from what I can tell.

Great car - a keeper. My son and I drove it back from KC (sounds like you made a trip as well in yours). I'm coming from Porsche GT cars and couldn't be happier with this car. I just went in on the extended warranty. Planning on keeping for awhile. My wife commented on the smooth ride vs. Porsche GT car (finally a car that doesn't make her nauseous).

The pricing on these cars is great. Like you, I looked for the S type initially, but the ADM of $50k scared me away.

Can I ask what dealer you got your warranty from. Did they off any discounts on the warranty? Thanks in advance.

I got the warranty from John Eagle Acura in Houston. I don't think it was discounted in anyway. It's an acura warranty. My car is a 2020, if that matters on pricing.

If I may ask (since I have a 19), what is the benefit of buying an extended warranty on a 2020? Isn't the factory warranty good for another 2-3 years?

I don't know yet. This is the first extended warranty I've purchased. My understanding is that the pricing goes up the closer you get to the factory warranty expiring (which as you point out is a few years off on the bumper to bumper, longer on the battery). I'm planning on keeping this car (the best laid plans of mice and men..), so I went all in on it. We'll see down the line if I keep the car and/or something goes wrong.

Gotcha. What was the cost of the extended warranty if you don't mind me asking? Maybe for comparison someone else can chime in who purchased one close to expiration of the factory one.

These cars seem pretty solid. I generally dont buy warranties but recognize there are some that have significant value (McLaren). I didnt seen anything pop up initially for this, but are there any common gremlins? I had the squeak from the window/A-pillar but that was ameliorated with the lubricant they suggest. The transmissions on this are pretty solid, right (have a 458 that recently needed a new pressure sensor and it wasn't cheap).

Despite my reservations about the hybrid system, I tend to agree with you. This is a Honda product and it likely will last a long time without many problems at all- especially compared to Ferraris and McLarens. For many years, Acura dealers supported Gen1 owners with "goodwill" repairs on major issues like the snap ring failure long after the factory warranty expired. They recognized that NSX owners and their cars were key brand ambassadors for Acura.
Acura may be willing to do the same for Gen2 owners.

Hi Viper, can you clarify on the squeek and lubricant? My 2017 has a slight rattle in the drivers side tweeter. The car before I bought it recently had an iLift and Escort Ci Max installed by the original owner so I believe the rattle may be from when the a pillar cover was removed. Just wanted to understand your situation. when I have some time outside of work I was planning on taking things apart there to eliminate what is otherwise a rock solid car! thanks for any insight/advice! - Ted

PS: this radar detector is ridiculously expensive but it is amazing with even laser shifters/jammers on the front and rear. Really cool system.

Check this pdf; the lubricant is Shin-Etsu Silicone Grease

Keep in mind if you purchase an Acura Extended warranty, it will begin on the date you purchase it. So if you have 2 years left on your original warranty and add a 5 year extended warranty you will only pick up 3 additional years over your original. If on the other hand you purchase said warranty a month or so before your original warranty dies then you will essentially get 5 more years.

Word to the wise. Before your original warranty ends, I recommend you take your car in to an Acura Dealer and have them check out the car. Any cosmetic issues such as seats, or trim, or anything for that matter that is becoming discolored or otherwise showing undo wear can be replaced under the original warranty, but NOT under the Extended Warranty. In fact the extended warranty does not cover any cosmetic issue. If the paint is flaking you are not getting it covered under the extended warranty. I understand some owners have experienced problems with the rear taillights, dash components, carbon fiber components, etcetera.

Awesome thank you Ryan! Had some of that with my 2000 S2000 which I sold last year and gave to the new owner. Time to buy more! thanks for this tip!

Ted - please keep us posted. I tried the grease and the instructions but I still have annoying creaking noise near driver side tweeter. I think it's seal related since my noise goes away when I roll the window down and up again.

I heard it works half the time or something like that. Funny, I thought there was something with the tweeter housing when I drove the car home first day. Mine was fixed completely with this.

Agree with Dr Manny's post too and its another reason I sort of steer away from extended warranties. As an example with the Ferrari CPO warranty, it's great for covering the feared DCT failure but alot of other things like failing retractable roofs and all are not covered. I think these warranties give manufacturers/dealers too much wiggle room to bail so I pocket the cash and just expect repair bills.

I think I need radar/laser countermeasures on this thing. It's funny because the car is so balanced, it seems to enable more effort from me on the road. Plus being bright yellow doesnt really help me.

Im working on some custom floor mats going through a guy that made some for my 458(see attached) at Exoticare (https://exoticare.ca I have no direct interest in the business). Few hundred bucks for the pair. I get to save the original mats and try something different.

So i tried the grease this weekend and most of rattle is gone. But i also noticed the lower 1/3 of seal had folded inward toward the glass. It must have been that way for a while with the previous owner but i pulled it out, applied the shin-etsu and have the seal properly aligned on the glass again. Did a quick drive and most of the rattle is gone but still a bit. I think the seal needs a little time to lose the folded "memory" as it is still not perfectly flush with the glass after I fixed it. But think once it settles the rattle will be gone. Seal and the grease fix definitely fixing it!

I thought it may have been due to the A pillar cover being removed by original owner for radar install but that does not appear to be the case. Loving this car! Thanks again for advice - much appreciated!
