"Official" Zanardi Thread...

Looks real rough at your humble home. Which one do you leave out?

I may have a garage issue that leaves cars outside frequently. However, most of the time they are not all there at once. :)

Zanardi #44 (VIN JH4NA2126XT000171) is for sale again, interestingly with a roof that has been finished in black like a '91-'94 USA car.

A good thread on this car: http://www.nsxprime.com/forum/showthread.php/104443-Zanardi-44-is-for-sale-JH4NA2126XT000171

Seeing that car makes me want to wrap my roof! Looks awesome

As an FYI, a couple of folks have reached out for price on it... current ask is $175k...

Sterling - you would know better than I of course, but I seem to remember #38 and #2 , significantly cleaner cars, selling for around there.

This dealer apparently is pointing people to "Hagerty condition #1 values" because clearly a repainted roof and replaced fender INCREASE a car's value...

It's a very rich number to ask for that car, for sure.

When I published the result of my first Zanardi sale back in 2017, my goal was to alert enthusiasts to the general value of these cars, but unfortunately the side effect is that many owners have become quite greedy in the time since.

With all due respect, Sterling, you reap what you sow. Not unlike what your dad did to the Miura, Countach and Ferrari upscale market. When I first met him over 30 years ago, it was relatively easy to source and purchase those cars and I watched him contribute to bringing the market to a unattainable level for most of us car enthusiasts. While the Zanardi is certainly nothing to lose any sleep over, it sure looks like it is becoming a “special” car wih a “special” price.

I should have been more clear with what I meant, which is that some owners are now greedy in the sense that they think their mid-level or lower-level condition car is worth the same as what an upper-level car sold for publicly. It doesn’t work like that.

As for the rest of what you said, I think it would take some arrogance to think that any one person could move an entire worldwide market for a car, any car. But, it does make some people feel better to blame dealers and / or specialists for their favorite cars going up in value. I would bring the laws of supply and demand into this, but I think anyone reasonable already understands how markets work.

I did say “contribute”.
As for the law of supply and demand, i do understand, I have been in business for over a half century. It is the rationale behind “demand” that sometimes bothers me and others.

I forgot to post the below in here...

#38 now has a nice garage mate, S2000 CR VIN 2212 which was owned by Honda until 2019 when I sourced it for this great client. The '04 STI is also a car I sourced for him.

He has an incredible array of European stuff as well, and he always tells me that the Zanardi is one of his favorite cars to drive. I'm glad it went to a good home, I always prefer these cars are with people who will use them!

new Owner Zanardi # 30

I want to thank the guys here on Prime for helping me on my quest to purchase a Zanardi. I did go down a few black holes, but the end result is #30 is coming to Boston from Houston. Any other Zanardi's up here ? Would be great to get a few to the Larz Anderson Auto Museum , Japanese day this month!

#30 joins a few more lightweight, limited edition cars in the stable.

Can't wait for her to arrive and take that first drive!

Sweet! Can't wait to see some pics. If Sterling was involved in this transaction you're talking blue chip collector quality. These cars are simply amazing. Congrats again!

I was not involved with this one, just a point of consultancy along the way with a few different examples.

And number 30 was completely off the radar, I knew nothing about it. I need to redo and update the registry, or would LOVE a volunteer :)

That's what sons are for:wink:

I currently have info on 35/51 cars and would like to preserve the history behind this great car.

Congrats. I think the only local one I know of is located in the New Hampshire area, Zanardi #19 that I posted a picture of on page 16 of this thread. But apparently the guy is super cautious with it so I doubt you'll see it at that type of event.
