Parking brake bulb replacement

Has anyone tried replacing their front parking brake bulb? There seems to a phillips head screw below the clear lens you can unscrew to remove the plastic cover and get access to the bulb. Has anyone had success doing this? The screw doesn't seem to want to come out. What am I doing wrong?

I ended up removing the front headlight assembly and changing the parking bulb from behind.

I'm working with a pre-02 headlight assembly.

You are not really doing anything wrong - but the screw will not drop out. There’s a catch that keeps it with the rest of assembly so you don’t lose it. Just loosen the screw completely and pull the assembly out.
