Poll Girls or no Girls?

Censorship and limiting freedom of speech on content that can EASILY be ignored (and harmless even if viewed) is lunacy in this great country.

I don't have a strong opinion on the NSFW subject, nor have I voted in the poll thus far.

I do think it is important to mention, however, that there is no freedom of speech on this website.

This is a private effort that is owned by someone. They have the right to control its content, provided they don't violate laws that apply to the content of websites, such as child pornography laws.

The First Amendment does not extend to the content of a private web forum. You don't have control of your right to view this forum or what you can post in it. Your words can be deleted or edited without your input, control, or knowledge. The same is true for me and the rest of the non-owner members.

We would all do well to remember, myself included, that the privilege of posting here for free is indeed a privilege, and it exists only because of the good graces of the owner.

NSX Prime is one of the best, if not the best, car forums, in my not so humble opinion. The reason it is that way is the result of many factors, but the owner is an integral part of its success.

You guys realize there a families that surf prime, right? My daughter is usually on my lap and wife is close by. At 6, she can read quite well. NSFW has caught her eye and she asks what it means. I don't surf the net for porn, so what to say? Prime is my escape from all the crap there is out there that I am trying to sheild my 6 year old daughter from. Go somewhere else for porn. Oh, and I am not gay, just someone who wants a place to go to to talk about cars and life in general with my friends.

If someone has a six year old looking at them I would seriously question why this would happen.
Either the father is looking at them and the child looks over his shoulder, or the child is curious. In the first instance a father can control that by not looking at the NSFW thread in the OFF TOPIC section, but the latter instance (child's curiousity) is not controllable.
If a kid wants to see tits they WILL find a way to do so. They can pic up mommy's copy of Vogue or People magazine and see Britney Spear's ass hanging out. They can turn on the TV and watch a primetime show. Hell, I was watching American Idol last night and thought I could see Paula Abdul's nipples.

well this is a discussion place, so if you shelter your kid that much, would you let her sit around while the guys discuss guy stuff?

the point is i believe that it doesnt need to be a porn site at all, but slightly tasteful nudes are fine... but no hardcore spread eagle stuff...

and kids from screwed up homes do well too, the sheltered ones seem like the ones that get a big shock when they leave home and they realize that drugs are everywhere, and people arent nice...

The one option I see is to accept a nsfw forum....but requires a password to get into those or unlock those.....other than that I agree with dennis in girls with nsx's in the pic is ok.....as long as its tastefully done like a magazine shoot.....I am not against seeing hot chicks, but I agree with the others in not wanting this site turn to a porn site....which will never happen anyways...so I don't think there should be too much to worry about.....cars and pretty girls are always a nice combo if done right....

Another option that's available - there's a mod for vBulletin called "Ignore Thread" that I've seen implemented on a couple boards. You can ignore a thread and it simply disappears from your view completely.
