Replacing rear lower control arm?

My dust boot is cracked. I squeezed water from it so I want to replace it myself. Does it break away from the control arm like a normal tie rod end or will I destroy something trying. I have the correct tie rod tool, but I've never work with aluminum.

Yes, tapered stud on end. You should be able to press it off easily with the correct tool.

Wow, that's surely not the tool I had in mind. I've always used the bar that you drive between to separate. Maybe not a good idea?

the tool I use had a screw that presses directly on the end of the stud (after you screw a nut on it)
