I'm just completing a restoration on a 1983 VW Rabbit GTI. I'm trying to decide what color to paint the wheels. I was thinking Gunmetal Gray would look good but I need more feedback on color.

Please feel free to make a color suggestion :)

Bronze with a silver lip?

I have a flat black Integra with flat black wheels. I'm adding some red to the lip just to add some borders.

neat choice of cars to work on. was it rusty? how many miles? stock engine or performance engine?

as old as they are (24 years), I looked for a while to find a low miles rust free version but that is nearly impossible. I would like to buy what you are building. :D (i am too lazy to try to build it myself, plus i suck with wrenches).

Thank you!

I have owned my beloved 1983 VW Rabbit GTI since the early nineties. I'm the second owner and finally got off my ass to restore it. I finally located and purchased a very rare Kamei bodykit which is getting prepared for paint. The GTI is stock in appearance however the engine, suspension and brakes have been upgraded

The lightweight 13x7 alloy Revolution wheels pictured are from the days I competed in SCCA Solo2 division. I was hoping to have everything completed by Labor Day but it appears I will miss that deadline:frown:

As per your questions, The GTI has 140k miles, no rust and no accidents.

For those that have owned or driven an A1 GTI understands why it's in the top ten best used sportcars to own

I'm blown away with the lack of enthusiasm on this thread topic:frown:

My brother had a Rabbit painted S4 blue and some crazy engine work. The thing was fast as hell. It would blow the doors of my APR tuned AUDI TT:smile: I think you can switch the drum brakes with the Scirocco brakes to increase stopping power tremendisly.

Ummm... This is a Honda board my friend.

I agree with you about this being a Honda / Acura forum however this is the Off Topic section. Many different auto manufactures are discussed in this section and felt I could get constructive options.

I'm glad you agree with the color choice

i think that a silver or white would look good, if you are staying black(flat?) i would not go with black wheels....it would end up looking like a civic, and you like your 17.

the white wheels with black body is verry euro, netherlands areas for sure, especially in the vintage of the car....

way cool car...
i have had 8 dubs in the past....they are such great cars....
