Stock muffler

Does removing the stock muffler provide any horsepower gains/audible differences? I was thinking about removing it, and having pipes ran from the cats straight out the back with tips. I figured that keeping the cats will provide all the back-pressure I need. Any thoughts?

It definately won't be streetable, will be very loud and you will get ticketed. If you are planning to run it on a race track it won't pass maximum noise (db) levels.

sorry to dig up an old thread but what does it sound like with no muffler? does it sound like a tuned exhaust or does it just sound like crap?
