I was driving Pch thursday night and all of a sudden a get a slight jerk like power loss for 1/2 a second and then Tcs light came on, followed by check engine light. Shortly after my speedometer started jumping speed after i got on the fwy, constant jump 60mph to 80mph and then it went dead!
No speed reading, came home and parked it. The next day went for a drive and lights came on again like 3 mins after i was driving and no speed reading.

Can someone help me diagnose this and find a solution to get it fixed? Thanx guys.

Wow .. that's bizarre .. the same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago (http://www.nsxprime.com/forum/showthread.php?t=163433) and after initially not being able to get a TCS code, I eventually got a 3-1 but the next step in the diagnosis is to get the CEL code .. but it's not blinking at all. So I finally gave up and took it into the dealer late last week and they left it overnight in the building. Next morning, they claim none of the lights were on. So I go to pick it up and lights are back on and they can't get a code to flash either. I have a spare ECU which I'm going to try some time this week when I get a moment.

I don't know if you have an OBD1 but if you do, you can determine the codes by following this writeup in the Wiki: http://www.nsxprime.com/wiki/Trouble_Codes
Let me know if you're getting a 3-1 also .. or something else

I forgot to mention that my car is still driveable although it won't idle down below about 1400 and the TCS won't allow me to go over 4000 RPM. If I let off the gas enough to decellerate, it does a little jerky thing for a second .. almost like it can't make up it's mind how much throttle to apply. But I think I read in another thread that if the CEL is on, it's not getting the proper inputs from the O2 sensors so maybe that's why.

Mine has pulled that shit twice now, last time being 3 days ago. I just pull the fuse for a few minutes, put it back in and let it idle for 15 mins to relearn. I'm pretty sure I just need to clean my throttle body.

What got me thinking is your speedometer was jumping all over the place and then died. I'm thinking it could be the speed sensor on the transmission. Easy enough to change out and not that expensive.

does anyone have the part # and where to get it for cheaper ? Acura of Peoria since i heard they are affordable?
Also where is it located and how can it be replaced ? Thanx guys.

Have you considered using the search??? This is not a new problem.

These are just some of the hits but everything you need to know is in these 3.

Thank you guys for all the help, I called Peoria Acura and I decided to order the Vss Speed Sensor and Main Relay since i hear it could go bad soon. Total was $197.83 shipped for both parts.
Got to wait for 'em and install to see if the problem goes away, from what i read it should take care of that issue.

Hopefully this resolves your problem and it sounds like it most likely will. Good to know these things though so I' m better prepared when this crap happens to me.

Tks for the feedback. Did both your NSX's have the erratic speedo problem? Mine is fine and after reading through all the posts, I can see that the erratic speedo would be related to the VSS but that's not my symptoms .. at least not yet.

Yes both had the erratic speedo problem but only one would turn on the TCS and CEL, and it would not turn it on all of the time.

Text book case of VSS error (vehicle speed sensor) Legend's have the same issue

Sure sounds like what just caused me to replace the VSS on my 91 Legend with 32K miles. VSS causes a lot of other unusual issues ie: on the Legend the D4 light on the automatic transmission flashed instead of solid, reversing the car and moving backwards REALLY confused the VSS/ECM, dead speedo and a host of other maladies that disappeared when the VSS was replaced.
