Transmission Removal Concern

Despite having removed both left and right side drive axles and the half shaft as well as disconnecting both sides of the rear suspension, the transmission seems to be caught up somewhere in the bell housing area. I have gotten approximitely 1 inch of gap or space between the motor and the tranny but it does not move out any further than this point. Have I missed something ? Any help is appreciated. Thomas

Did you remove the clutch cylinder and pulled out the clutch fork.
Is the engine mount on the top of the tranny clear?

Have fun

If you have ensured all bolts have been removed, all electrical parts disconnected, tilted the left fender motor mount up out of the way (180° out of position), and all six bell-housing bolts and three dust cover bolts are out, then you wiggle the thing like hell and pull out as you do it. The input shaft gets dry, dirty, clutch-dusty and a little rusty over time and needs some persuasion or a little enthusiasm added to your manipulation.

Ah, the dust cover will hit the flywheel, that and the fork from the clutch.

Very common. As mentioned above, assuming everything else has been done, it sounds like you have not removed the clutch fork. Remove the slave cylinder & boot, and then through the hole fish it out.

John

There is actually a nice little clip attached to the side of fork that will allow it to be held in the fork window away from the throw-out bearing.

Thanks for all the help guys.... It was simply the clucth fork. Sometimes reading the manual completely actually helps. Big thanks to Nsx Prime and Larry , David , and Thom, SWR, for their insight and expertise. Thomas
