Hey Chris!

THanks for the information. Never new that there was a 2001 JGTC race in Malaysia. I figured that they went on the Sepang road Course?

By the way, Im Malaysian, born in a suburb of Kuala Lumpur called Petaling Jaya. Im glad the JGTC is having races there. My home country is recently getting more popular in terms of motor sports, being involved in Formula 1 and World Superbike, and Im glad that the JGTC is deciding to use our tracks now.

Anyone know if Speedvision will cover any of these races they look wild.

I got a brother working and living in TOkyo. Asked him to see if he can tape some ofthis years races. Lets hope he manages to find time to do so.

are these videos available with English translations (or even subtitles)? Similar to the Type R video that was released awhile back.

I'm forming a campaign to promote JGTC in the US, part of that will be contacting Speedvision regarding this coverage (much more interesting than the British series they cover now if you ask me). I'm also attempting to contact GT-A to distribute the videos in the United States.

The videos are currently Japanese-only, however, it is likely they will be available in English with JGTC being televised in Europe.

I have already sent in an email to Speedvision, and they made it sound like, if we could drum up some emails, that they might considering showing the JGTC races.

They did say that they did have rights to show the races, just that they haven't had the demand. Well, let's give it to em!

Anyone know the other import car forums that we could forward this on to?

Burbel -- I'm adding a petition script to my site that will allow us to do this. I'll have some more information soon. Let's finish this, then we can blow it out to the other marques!

I emailed SpeedVision today, and received a prompt reply. They said that they didn't have the rights for JGTC.

They can fork over the $$ to get the rights if there's the appopriate demand. This implies:
- viewership
- sponsors with their AD $$

Wouldn't this be analogous to the big bucks that the US carmakers put into NASCAR and a number of other events (even funny-car drag racing) ??

I would think that Honda/Acura, Toyota, Nissan, etc (and yeah even Porsche and Ferrari if they care) could help make this happen. I think car clubs (and owners) have a more direct influence over them, versus Speedvision.
