School - UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design
Major - Architecture
Got licensed about 5 years after graduation and had several practices and partnerships as well as jobs over the years, since this is a roller coaster type of profession. When the economy tanks you lose work or it is just dificult to get work. Now I am a Partner in a NYC architectural and engineering firm we started over 5 years ago and it is going OK.
If you enjoy mechanical engineering then do it but ultimately you will make the most money in that feild if you either embrace project management rather than design or have your own firm. Otherwise you will be a line engineer or manager but never really brake through certain salary limits unless you are in upper management or sales, which really requires business skills rather than just engineering capabilities.
Good luck,
Tytus
