Where are all the Production deliveries ??

Parts available and ordered here too. Short wait for gear oil. Fuel tanks, brake light, and thermostat.
Maybe a new battery for the door unlock glitch.
2 - 3 days for repairs.

My car was scheduled for the recall work tomorrow

The customer service rep at the dealership reached out to say they have to reschedule

Turns out many of the tanks are getting damaged in shipment

Spoke with the Rep

McDavid first noticed the issue and informed the chain of command including the regional rep and the info got to Torrance

340 ordered for repairs and only some number in the low 40s are ok to use

Replacements have been ordered from the manufacturer

No eta on getting the tanks to the dealers

Tanks and connectors are shopped in one module and seem to be getting damaged during the packing process

Other stuff, Canada may be getting a different process due to their influence with Honda, the work may only be happening at a few regional centers

France is still an unknown, sounds like the folks over their have not prioritized figuring out what to do, sorry Rene

This is not inspiring much confidence. Is this obvious damage or could a dealer install a “new” tank that’s worse than what is pulled out? Who now clears the tanks as ok?

WHY? because replacement parts are being damaged and you are finding out about it?

KUDOS to HONDA for standing behind the product.

I may take back the KUDOS if the "fixes" turn out to be bogus.

For now, I am very satisfied with how I am treated by the service.

The dealer has to determine if any part is ok to use.

After this cluster f, I would imagine there will be some sort of info to the dealer on how to spot a problem tank set.

I agree that based on the design (2 tanks links by a connector), the install process would create some risk of damage as well.

The Corvette C5 uses dual tanks. I was lucky enough to have a Z06 as you could drop either tank if you needed to (I did). The other C5 models you had to drop the transaxle.

I agree, a cluster f. Considering Honda is replacing tanks to prevent the possibility of a fire with potentially damaged tanks, they should scrap all the “new” tanks shipped with the method that allowed for them to be damaged. Why risk it? One fire with a new tank and they’re back where they started. When in a hole stop digging.

And no calls or any communication from my dealer. I initiated the appointment for repairs and nothing about a delay.

I believe the damaged tanks are being punted.

Replacements for the 300ish damaged sets were ordered but delivery timing was unknown when I spoke with the Specialist.

Unclear if a different packing method will be used.

The stuff used to support a 20 year shelf life for packaging replacement parts may be the issue.

Oh man, that stinks. Sorry you guys are going through all this.

Wow 122 units year to date 2018, 355 units September 2017 year to date...

Imagine how many they would have sold last 2 years if a fully loaded optioned car was 140k from the start..... before discounts:smile::cool:

I’m actually liking the low production numbers. The car is rare and I love not seeing them everywhere. I see the GT2 RS and GT3 RS Porsche’s everyday.

Sorry, I was out of electronic contact for a couple of days

Here is the September 2018 US ugly summary (thanks to Hothonda for the NSX data)

NSX 11
Ford GT 14
Lexus LC 156
Nissan GT-R 37
MB AMG GT 89
Audi R8 109 (almost 10X the NSX volume)

I leave prime for a couple weeks and Fastaussie has been Suspended. Hah! Just saying.

What a loss to the forum. I'll miss his informative and unbiased opinions. Thought maybe somebody that didn't know him, may have finally gave him a movie gig. Or Acura hired him as their brand ambassador for the new NSX.

He had some good info in his posts. But they were a bit repetitive. Wonder if he sold his NA2 yet.

haha but now this thread will wilt....

lets not pile on....they go low....

Please let's try to stay on topic now and not engage in personal attacks. The offender has been suspended so keep the thread on point.

Thanks.

and the i8 is up 104% year on year to 55 units in Sept. I don’t understand
why this car sells. It’s such an awkward design. BMW does a 3 cylinder turbo for $150K and people buy it.
the AMG GT I get, its got the looks, the engine and the speed...
