Why can't I open "attached images"?

Hi; new owner here. On many posts I see at the bottom a paperclip icon with the words "attached images". However clicking on it does not open the attachment(s). What am I doing wrong?

Ive NEVER been able to either. It's typically from posts from years ago

I noticed that as well...for me only happens on mobile device.

A poster posts, it looks like below but the image does not show even if you tap the paperclip:

vf2ss gave you a link to an example which I experience whenever the icon shows, not just on old posts. I use an android tablet and have not tried it on my PC. Thanks.

Ok, I think I figured this out. When viewing the forums in mobile mode, the "attached images" with paperclip icon won't work when clicking on them. When you switch viewing to "full site" mode the images automatically load.
