Would you sell both GPW NSX's to buy or build an Ultima GTR?

The GTR very difficult to find built in the US so I may build one from scratch

http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/Content.aspx?f=records
Holds world record 0-100-0 mph @ 10.3 seconds
Smoked the top gear record by 5 seconds faster than CCX
Looks incredible
Minimal depreciation
Relatively low maintenance
About as crazy as you can get while staying street legal.

But I love My NSX the way it is right now. If I sold it I would not want to go through and build it all over again. Between me and the previous owner this thing has many many hours and years of love, plus over 25k in parts in it. Just deciding on which parts to buy and waiting for them alone is enough to drive a man nuts. I don't want to feel sorry later and regret selling mine, maybe I should wait until I can fork out the cash for the GTR without selling my NSX.

What you guys think?

I looked into the GTR a few years back, and here's what I think.

I don't see how it could possibly be as comfortable or usable as the NSX. Faster around a track, probably, but I don't know that I'd use one much anywhere else. I mean, there's not any rear window at all.

One thing to consider is that the chassis will be the same no matter what drivetrain you put in- if you don't go for the full bore Porsche GT3 transaxle with a supercharged LS7, you might not have to sell both NSX's in order to get a GTR.

I've been thinking about doing something similar with a kit Cobra. Build and register the kit with a cheap engine, and then eventually get the full house speed parts.

Well,

I don't personally plan on getting rid of my NSX....period. I wanted it for 18 years, so I figure it should be with me until.....

However, I know that there will come a time that I will want something different than the NSX to use as my toy. When that time comes, instead of getting rid of the NSX, I'll keep it and look at either a Grand Tourer like something in the Aston Martin line.....or a Roadster, namely the Tesla.

i've ridden in one- definitely a fast track car but thats it. on the street you will not be happy- it is a kit car.

Apples to oranges. Your asking our opinion on selling a street car for a barely street legal kit car/track car that is very fast. Two completely different cars.

Do you track your NSX?
Do you daily drive your NSX?
Are you going to track the GTR?
Are you going to daily drive the GTR?
Do you want the GTR for bragging rights/exclusivity/looks/etc...?

In all reality the GTR is a kit car, like the Noble. Nothing wrong with that but it is common to have a lack of uniformity between chassis - things don't quite line up, and not quite the level of consistency between each cars. Even Lotus cars were especially critiqued for this back in the day and it's funny to see that brand new Elise/Exiges have similar issues.

But if you want an extremely high performing car that you can legally drive on the street, that looks cool, and you'll be sure to not run into another one on the street or track, if it tickles your fancy, then by all means. But you have to ask yourself why you want it and if it would make you happy.

On another note: does it have A/C, a radio, and for some kit cars, there is a maximum allowed mileage per month. In terms of registration, you are only allowed to drive a limited amount on the street. If this is true for the GTR, and you plan on daily driving it, that might be a conflict. If it's a track car, it may be irrelevant.

^^^ I concur. You're talking about a bare-bones (no A/C, radio, air bags, etc.) kit car and, I think, comparing it to the NSX (or perhaps you never really compared them, just asked about selling them).

In any case, you would lose the beautiful street/everyday usage of the NSX and have, in it's place, an uncomfortable, barely-street-able kit car.

Keep at least one NSX and go ahead and build the GTR. It is, after all, a really cool car.

the second Ultima, the silver one, OMG that's gorgeous! Never seen one with that style rear deck and tail-lights...

Slap on Angus's turbo kit and have a "new" NSX.

Are you looking for a "track" car like the Ultima ?

Add;
KW V3's and suspension.
Big ducts to brakes.

Nope, myself, I wouldnt do that.

Why dont you get a funky Exige or something - cheap and you can drive it to the track if you want. Faster does not equal more fun.

Have a friend in South Florida that has not a GTR but the CAN AM, this video is after he got, still they were tuning his engine etc ...

It's easily one of the fastest cars around, PERIOD, but it is a TOY, a TRACK monster, very different that the civilized NSX ... can't even compare, but my God, that thing is fast and btw, pretty (i think)

You must have an NSX and an Ultima .. :D
