New owner. Mini fix it / build thread

Man I am a sucker for white wheels, especially on red cars. Looks great and love the red stitching as well.

Thank you guys for the comments! I guess people either love or hate the white wheels. I too am the same with my own setup. Love the way they look. Hate keeping them clean. As for the red stitching- I gotta give props to FD3SNSX for that.

Some minor updates from this weekend. I installed my vacuum block and made it all clean and tidy looking in a semi-descrete location that almost makes the part look as if it came like that from the factory.

Drilled out a pilot hole for the mounting point:

Used a 5x.8 tap to thread the hole to accept the mounting bolt:

Had to remove and "modify" my fuse box bracket to fit the vacuum block:

Vacuum block installed with gauge sensor plugged in:

Expecting a big package tomorrow from FedEx, so this week should be an exciting one!!!!!

Looks good.... but all I kept thinking while looking at your thread is "Wow, must be nice to have access to a work area and equipment like that"

I agree. The dealership I work for has a pretty baller shop. Having access to the shop equipment is definitely a plus. Owning the quality tools that I have is part of the trade. Gotta have em to make a living. Working in a shop like this makes you more organized. When you're more organized, you don't spend time looking for tools. When you're not looking for tools, you're able to work faster. When you work faster, you make more $$$$$. My advice to any DIY'er, at home technician, or beginner mechanic is: Get organized.

One more pic to give you guys the idea of the SIZE of this T4/T67 6765 beast:

Made some progress on the install today.

Assembled bracing, Y-pipe, Turbine and muffler:

Had to modify my heat shielding, cut off a hanger, and relocate a hanger for the bracing:
IMG_4106.jpg

The assembly now weighs a ton and would be a mission to get it hanging on the car by sheer manpower alone. This air powered transmission jack sure came in handy:

And it's in!

Ran into a snag dealing with the intercooler that will hopefully be resolved soon by the builder. We'll see. Stay tuned for more updates on the daily until complete.

Very excited to see the results of your install. I'm installing and fabricating a turbo kit for my '92 and I just realized that we both live in the DMV. The odds of two turbo NSX's being built within a few miles of each other still has me amazed.
I believe I spoke to you a few months back about purchasing your oem wheels but it didn't pan out. When were done we should meet up and talk Turbo NSX. Great thread BTW!!!

Is this an Angus kit ? Looking good Tech7042.

Yup, AP-X kit with upgrades.

Can't wait to see that big boy turbo on Dyno

you and me both! I've seen your setup, very sick with the custom water/air cooler.

For sure man. Always down to meet new NSX owners. There's a strong car enthusiast group that I hang out with. We all meet up and chill, work on cars, grill, drink beer and what not. Another turbo NSX in the crew would be tight. About the wheels- my fault about that. If you're still in the market for some stockers, I have a buddy selling a fresh set. Let me know!

Tech7042- this thread and you rule. That is all.

Thanks! I try and let my work speak for itself, and this thread is meant to show what I'm all about!

UPDATE 04/11
Got some more done on the install today.

Unfortunately, the feed line supplied with the kit would not work, as it hit the frame. So I went to Colliflower INC in Rockville and had them make me a new line with a 90* fitting for the turbo side.

TEE off the oil sending unit:

Charge pipe hooked up:

I took off the intake manifold and deleted the VVIS:

With the manifold off, it was super easy to install the 630CC injectors:

Charge pipe and Tial Q:

Here you can see the issue I ran into with the intercooler. The mounting tabs were mistakenly welded on incorrectly. Luckily, Wil was kind enough to send one out to me in exchange for this one. I will use this unit for tuning and when the new one comes, just swap it out:

Getting close to completion. Still need to do a few things before startup and tuning. Stay tuned!

Spent the last couple of days completing the install and getting the car running. Just got done tuning today and man was this setup worth it! Photos of my work:

Made some new ECU connector pins for my wideband communication and boost control solenoid:

Tested pin fit:

D connector reassembled:

AEM EMS mounted and connected:

My boy Yambor came by to help me with startup, and gave me a basemap that would safely get me to my tuner:

startup, idle, turbo spinnin yo!

Setting up the dyno:

Dyno Pull:

Results are outstanding. At 7PSI of boost I hit 410whp and 316tq. drivability and balance characteristics of the NSX is not compromised and the delivery of power is very smooth. Tiny bit of lag but not hateful (gives me something to look forward to lol).

the setup:
AP-X angus kit.
Precision T4 T67 6765 turbo
Siemens 630cc injectors
AEM 30-1042 EMS

Thanks guys. Driving the car is so much more fun now. I primarily built it as a street machine, and I can't picture a better way to be rolling around. For anyone out there considering a turbo kit, my advice to you is to just pull the trigger and do it.

I'm done modding the car for now. I'll do some minor fix ups here and there and will update with whatever I do.

Cheers!

With those larger injectors, head studs and Cometic gasket,
You should be able to safely push boost up to net more like 440+Hp.
Are you running a stock clutch?
At what rpm do you hit full boost psi?

Yea on the last dyno pull we upped the boost to 8psi. The car was heat soaked and the clutch let go on the dyno (also had to do with the fact that I was on dynapacks). I'm sure if the clutch would have held on I would have seen over 430whp. Stock clutch unfortunately.

I have the SOS 6 puck. It was just awful to drive the first 100 miles. It fully broke in after 1000 miles and is quite drivable and holds power nicely.

Thanks for the excellent write-up Xavier, glad to see your great results!
