Here is my semi-educated info, specific instructions beyond “just drive it” and experience on passing smog in California.
If the Battery has been disconnected for replacement, service or if the codes have been cleared, the car may pass the emissions test but fail the OBD II systems test...
Yes, you do have to take out the "O" ring to bake on the powder coating
Here are the manual pages from my '97 that describe the steps to do the disassembly of the rear caliper. I bought the special Acura tools to do this the easiest way possible. I would be willing to loan you the tools, but I...
Power Coating Brake Calipers & Brackets – SPA Yellow
I posted this in '09 but it may have been deleted. Let me know if you have any questions. I'm VERY happy I did the project and it still looks great. Comments from people are fantastic.
Power Coating Brake Calipers & Brackets
After wanting...
I just wanted to publically thank Brian for the good work on fixing the climate control board from my ’97. The fan would work but only on high, not variable speed. Brian fixed the board with a couple of new components and returned it within the few days as he said he would. Just an FYI, there...
I found excellent Slotted & Drilled rotors from R1 Concepts. Call Sam at 714-777-2323 ext. 7007 who was very helpful and met my timeline with beautiful rotors. I have a '97 SPA Yellow NSX and did a write up about the rotor and powder coating of the calipers that could be found through search...
I also noticed they did not come off easily, so after removing the cab nuts I just applied about 10 applications of penetrating oil over a couple of days to let it sink in. A little pressure in all directions and they came off. The car looks a lot better with them off and since I don’t drive in...
I believe it really depends on the lighting, as I see a great range of color on my Spa Yellow '97. The Spa Yellow has subtle metal flake that really pops out and looks GREAT in the sun. I'm happy to send you some pics but suggest you attend an NSX meet somewhere to try and see the two colors in...
Good Luck. Even though we never talked I feel for you and remember to keep your head up high. A lot of people, including both my wife and I went through it the last 12 months. Work at it like you did during the day and you will find something good.
I tried to compile the above posts, delete duplicates and add a few more:
1) hood
2) engine cover
3) trunk
4) driver's door
5) passenger door
6) glove box
7) arm rest
8) cup hold cover
9) the little compartment next to the cup holder
10) the lid on the driver's side vanity mirror
11) the lid...
Power Coating Brake Calipers & Brackets
After wanting to improve the look of my ‘97 Spa Yellow Pearl NSX I gathered up all the pieces needed for the Brake re-fresh:
-Rebuild kits for all 4 calipers
-Slotted & Drilled rotors from R1 Concepts. Call Sam at 714-777-2323 ext. 7007 who was very...
The under dash fuse #5 blowing problem was traced to Oxygen Sensor wires that moved and were rubbing on the RR drive shaft. Thereby, wearing through the insulation and causing a short. The fix was simply to cut out the damaged wire, reconnect the sensor and secure the wire with tie wraps so it...
While traveling in my ’97 NSX at 65 on the freeway, all my instrument cluster, turn signals, clock and power steering completely stopped working (Tach & Speedo went to 0). The engine continued to run normally and I drove 3 miles to home. Using my shop manual I traced the circuit to the 15 amp...
When I was shopping for my NSX I Wanted red. Once I saw the Spa Yellow Pearl in the sun I knew that was THE color to have. It is different, like the green, blue and orange and gets a lot of great comments. It comes down to personal preference, there is no right or wrong. Buy what get you...
Thanks for the answer and the links.
The Front caliper rebuild kits have just the 3 packets (Orange, Pink & Clear (KS 62M). However the Rear kits have the additional milky-colored lube G-40M. The Shin-Etsu site shows this as a hi-temp lube suitable for bearings. Since this is only in the...
No, the third packet says "Pin Moving portion" and the 4th packet says " Location: dust cover of caliper, cup of master cylinder".
The Service Manual does not mention the G-40M or the KS 62M. The Acura dealer where I purchased them could not tell me what they are for.
Having received the Rear Caliper rebuild kit from Acura (01473-SLO-J00), it contains (4) small packets of lube. Two are labeled but two just say G-40M and KS 62M. Can anyone explain the use of these two? I cannot get a reference to them in my shop manual on the 97 NSX and get conflicting info on...
I am considering replacing my front Bridgestone Potenza S03's (215/40 ZR17) in a week when I replace the rear tires that are worn out (also S03's) so that they all match.
The fronts have 4 or 5/32 tread left. Should I keep them and take the best offer in the for sale forum or pay the disposal...
I recently purchased new leather skins, so I have the previous OEM ones which show some wear and minor cracks but are still in good shape. Asking $300 + shipping for the pair. Please email me with any questions. Local buyers can visit me in S.F. Bay Area, to see them in person.
Call me at...
