    Air Conditioning cold one side

Anyone have an explanation as to why, when my air con is on, cooled air exits the left side of the centre vent but only warm air exits the right side.

    Cat warning light flicker

Hi Guys, Before I bought my car it had the Catalytic Converters removed and the O2 sensors tack welded to the outside of the exhaust system . The car has been running fine with this arrangement since I have owned it. However for some reason the dashboard Cat warning light has now...

    Painting interior panels

Hi Guys Painting interior plastic panels after stripping to bring them back to look exactly like original requires the use of a paint which includes a flexing agent (to resist cracking) and in the case of most paints including acrylic lacquer a dulling agent. Normally I would use a spray gun but...

    Dali

Hi Guys, Thanks for your responses I have dealt with him in the past and his service and communication has been really good and sending parts to NZ no issue. So it is difficult to understand why the change - weird. However judging from your comments being erratic seems to be par for the course...

Hi Joe, They were cut on a vinyl cutter at a university design workshop where I work occasionally - I may be able to get some more cut. Cheers John

DIY rear tail H emblem (comes out a bit red...)

I decided that the back of the NSX was a bit plain so added these decals, at least then those following can tell what it is.

    Stuck hub nut

Good that you didn't heat it with a gas torch. It is definitely not good practice to heat to any where near red hot any part of a heat treated high tensile steel axle. It can have the effect of annealing the area that has been heated so changing some of the steel's properties. If it won't move...

Broken door panel lugs I machined them on a small milling machine. Attached is a quick sketch showing dimensions etc. and how to remove the broken lugs to suit the new ones. Any one with a milling machine should be able to make them for you however if you can't find anyone contact me and i...

    Broken Door Panel Lugs

Hi Guys When I removed my door panel to get at the Speaker Amp I noticed a couple of the lugs which secure the panel to the door were broken. Probably due to some ham fisted operator removing the panel perhaps to get at the alarm before I bought the car. Whilst the panel was off I decided to...

Easy way to remove stubborn axle nuts.

I don't have a large impact wrench and perhaps having a toolmaking background helped me to know it would be really easy and quick to cut the old nut off using a rotary file as described.

    Any ideas on why this?

I think that possibly you could be right. The new battery terminals were a really good tight fit and with the old battery being weak perhaps the alternator doesn't provide enough at idle revs so leaving the coil packs to rely mostly on the battery at idle.

Easy way to remove stubborn axle nuts.

Rather than strain my guts or tools when confronted with a rear axle nut that wouldn't come off when fitting new CV boots (the kits come with a new nut) I did it this way:- After using a pin punch to de stake the nut I loaded a 1/8" dia parallel carbide rotary file with a radius end in my die...

    Any ideas on why this?

Hi Guys I recently had my NSX battery checked by a battery specialist which indicated after a full charge time at 58% capacity. The load check on the alternator done at the same time was perfect. Obviously with that poor battery result the next move was to replace it. Surprisingly the car now...

Motion for posting to DIY forum

Absolutely agree, if, when solutions are found they are not posted and made avail to everyone there is not a lot of point having a DIY forum.

    Passenger Rear CV Question?

Just stripped the same axle about two days ago I will try to answer your questions:- You really need to remove the old boots then clean the axle and all the rollers and the spiders before you can ascertain whether there is a more serious problem that won’t be solved by renewing just the grease...

    Weird Noise - now gone

You bet I did more than once! Problem was the noise appeared to be coming from the back of the knuckles and even holding a stethoscope to the diff housing didn't signal it was the diff. And it happened when going straight that really put me off thinking the diff plates were the cause and as well...

    Weird Noise - now gone

Hi Guys, I lasted posted under "Weird Noise" along with a couple of Youtube clips an unusual pinging noise coming from the rear of my NSX. I had already renewed the boots on the LH CV joints (one was split) and found the joint to be 100% OK. Thinking it could have been a wheel...

    Weird noise

Thanks for your help. It's not a bearing as I have renewed the left one to see if that was the problem and the noise still occurs on that side. Also the replaced bearing was really OK. It does, as you say, only happen when the wheels are carrying the weight of the car so it has to be related to...

No it's not a rattling sound. More like a sudden ping sound as though something is loading up and then suddenly letting go.

    Weird noise

It's definitely not fender liners rubbing. Had the car over a pit pushing it backwards and forwards still can't locate where this noise is coming from. Weather is pretty warm - our summer here in New Zealand. The next thing is to change the trans oil to MTF3.(I have some on order from Mark at...

    Weird noise

All the hub nuts/bolts are tight and I have replaced a wheel bearing the old unit was actually OK but I replaced it anyway just to make sure. Have pushed the car with pads and caliper removed -noise still there so it definitely isn't the brakes which was incidently was the 1st thing I thought it...
