My TCS light comes on when the TCS is SWITCHED OFF. When this happens the engine is cut for a split second and then normal operation resumes. It has happened when cruising on the freeway and at the track.
I had the TCS fuse pulled (the one in the fuse block next to the radiator overflow tank)...
I had an ongoing problem with my car which Basch worked on and incorrectly diagnosed as "Your car just runs hot at the track" and he put a high-pressure radiator cap on it. The problem only got worse with time. Everyone else thought it was head gaskets.
After getting a very high price from my...
Hi Nick,
If you weren't aware, the ECU *and* the TCS units each store their own DTC codes. The TCS unit can store up to 3 codes. In the '93 service manual the TCS codes are discussed starting on page 19-82. From the scenario you describe your codes are sitting in memory now waiting eagerly to...
I'm 6'00" and with a helmet on my head is jammed against the roof in either coupe or targa. Some folks recline the seat as far as possible to alleviate the problem.
The last time I bought SC belts was at least a year ago, I got them at Autozone and they carried the Gatorbacks. Regarding parts #'s, I have the standard 6 lb. kit.
The CTSC belt is a plain-vanilla Goodyear Gatorback for GM vehicles. The part number is 4050705 5PK1790. I buy them at my local auto parts store. Go down to yours and buy two, one to put on the car now and carry the other as a spare in your trunk along with the routing diagram which you can get...
I've got two in excellent condition. I no longer need them because my 2004 NSX OEM changer uses the same cartridges as the Alpine CHM-S620. Make me an offer :)
A single belch of black smoke is normal since the fuel pressure goes to max under WOT and subsequently dumps a load on fuel into the engine. Black smoke = rich mixture.
I had a defective belt go on me at a driver's school. The inside surface of the belt (where the "gatorback" is) was stripped...
Hi Bart,
We can't make this but if you guys meet again in late August we'll be at the Belgian GP on Aug 28/29 and are meeting Wolfgang at the Nurburgring on Aug 30. We'll be staying in Aachen.
The Porterfield R4 requires bedding-in and an overnight cool down.
I've tried bedding them in on the way to work in the morning and they were not at maximum grip when went I home. During another bedding-in run I bedded them in, drove a few miles without touching the brakes and then as an...
Tiger,
To a great extent comparing brake component life on one track to another is comparing apples and oranges. A factor to consider in pad & rotor life is the track you'll be running on, or more specifically the speed deltas at the corners. Every track is different.
One of the tracks here in...
