2008 Proposed tax changes OMG!!!!

I think he means that it is a little funny you guys are worried about increase in tax rate by a bit. I believe we canadians pay up to 49% of our income as income tax. Granted, those higher tax pays for our version of universal health care and other socialist governments services.

If that wasn't what was meant, sorry Mr. bigglez, didn't mean to put words in anyone's mouth.

What's funny about it? Those aren't small increases, sir.

Highest income tax bracket + state/local tax...and we're right up there with you Canadian high rollers.

That was some of it yes. It really comes down to the number of times I've read/listened to our neighbors profess about how much better their nation is than anyone else in the world. Now before anyone presumes or prejudges what I just said, it's important to note that I've not inferred anything bad.

For years I have been subjected to high taxation and friends/family who reside in the US prod me with how much worse it was for me to be a Canadian (note I didn't say better to be an American). It's been a regular jab for years and as luck would have it there is finally an about face.

I'm not happy people are seeing their lives upturned and the future prospect of recession and everything that comes with it being thrust upon friends/family (forum members for that matter). What I am happy about is that I've continued to stick through all the prodding I've been subjected to over the years to see some balance finally come to light. Its showing with gas prices, taxes, incomes, etc.

Oddly enough all those years being on the short end of the stick now has me being ahead of the game. I have no debt and am even looking to benefit from the woes of the US economy. It's great to be Canadian!

Again, I outline nothing I've said is meant to infer ignorance or hardship for those being affected by the state of events that are transpiring in the US. It's just interesting to note that everyone can be affected by problems which unfortuantely has not been the attitudes of many Americans for many years/generations.

When are you Canadians going to realize you are pseudo americans!! Red included:wink: BTW I've watched Canadian Bacon about 100 times and it keeps getting funnier every time I see it:tongue:
