Comparison Between Dealer and Aftermarket Front Brake Pad

The front brake pad for the NSX (dealer part number 45022-SL0-J02) costs $211.30 before discount, and the front brake pad for the Integra, Legend, and Vigor (dealer part number 45022-SR3-N31) costs $59.13 before discount. The aftermarket front brake pad for NSX, Integra, Legend, and Vigor all have the same part number D503.

Since the aftermarket part works for all four of these Acura cars, does anyone know if it's okay to use the dealer's brake pad for the Integra, Legend, and Vigor on an NSX? It's cheaper than buying the dealer part for the NSX itself.

Here's the pattern of the D503 aftermarket brake pad:

since its so cheap buy them and try them out and contribute to the wealth of knowledge to Prime's database. LOL

good find though I wonder.......

I have replaced the original brake pads with those I bought from the Honda dealer today. It costed me $60, and it seems to work fine. Just like how Toyota and Lexus parts are interchangeable, if you know the part number, you could use them and save yourself some money. I asked a dealer clerk, and he says both pads are made of the same material. I'm only driving my NSx on the streets (no racing of any sort), so it works okay.

Here's the picture of the pad (the two in the center are the original NSX pads and the two off to the sides are oem Honda pads):

Gee, do you think in 20 yrs of NSXdom that maybe this has been covered before?

Note: I only searched for "pads" posts by nsxtasy in 2 subforums. Plenty of hits just for that, much more if you search w/o specifying a user.

Ya, right.... Let me tell you that the Autozone Wearever Gold pads at $39 an axle out preformed the OEMs on the track at Mid Ohio and I'm not easy on the brakes. OEM were made for the street, low dust and no noise was the first priority over performance. So.... OEM pads are not anything special.

I think we all know about your total refusal to use the search. Sorry I didn't spoon feed it.

If you or he had read the posts from nsxtasy in the links that I provided, you would see where he explains that while Legend, etc. pads will fit an NSX, the compound isn't the same & might not be up to stopping from the high speeds the car is capable of.

Please explain how giving him the answer to his question was thoughtless.
