guys, Im considering keeping my 92 nsx and thinking of getting a few things done. I would LOVE to go to Zahntech but the number of things, plus my actual usage (meaning once a week) of the car doesnt justify $80+/hour labor on all these items.

Does anyone know of another good import/Acura shop in the Seattle area? someone who's been around for a while, knows his stuff and will probably be around $60/hour?

Moazzam

If you say what you need done I may be able to help, I have a good relationship with a custom exhaust place here, plus I hade my Tbelt replaced for under $1500 here, and C-Speed has his car resently repainted. looks awesome

fabulous! I can call em for a quote. Who is it?

I dont have a problem bringing it to Bellingham, if thats
where this shop is.

but its not just an exhaust shop right? I need shocks, Tbelt (but not just yet), and main thing is a small rear mail seal oil leak.

thanks

ps: all, please keep recommendations coming though!

You want to save $20/hr, a total of maybe $160, to have important service done to your NSX. You should have considered buying a Civic if you can't afford the maintanence on an NSX which is pennies compared to any other hand build exotic.

Having an experienced NSX tech is very important. If you plan on keeping the car, you may be kicking yourself at some point for not going to Zahntech and the relatively minor surcharge.

wait, how is it $160 for items that will total over $5000? it will be about $1400 less, if the labor rate was $60 intd of $80.

also, Ive never met an nsx owner calling another one out on not being able to
afford their nsx, or trying to save on labor. We dont do that! we're not the "flame" type a crowd!

and a civic? haa, even my beater is better than a civic. :)

I would have the timing belt done by bellingham northwest honda it was about $1,100 for the full service and thats with labor.

Check out "the chop shop" in bellingham for custom exhausts and suspensions

everything else Id take it to sims honda in burlington, dont pay outrageous prices to a place that specializes in exotic cars only, you will get charged just because of that.

You only want to spend $60/hr versus $80/hr. In simple math, that's a $20 dollar difference times eight hours equals $160. The price of parts is obviously not included.

Then I guess I'm the first one. Do I win anything?

Woohoo.....

I'm sorry if I offended you, but you clearly posted that you want to save money on having important service done. Furthermore you call out a highly respected NSX specialist because his fees are too high for you.

-Cheers

how did I call him out? did you see where it says I would LOVE to take it to John at Zahntech?

you seem like you want to continue this flaming thread! go ahead, you'll be talking to yourself, cause this is the last thing I say to you, you clearly are out to "jest" rather than "respond" to the original question.

RJP, thats true, for stuf like timing belt etc. you need an nsx tech, or acura tech. But for shocks and smaller stuff, I really dont think it matters. Zahntech is an excellent shop, these guys know what they're doing, and John's the one I went to when I first moved here to get stuff done. But it doesnt hurt to see if there's an alternative for these smaller items.

As a matter of fact, we had found a couple of alternatives in Dallas, and that allows you to do a lot more tweaking & upgrading on a long term basis.

anyway, I havent ruled Zahntech out, I was just looking to see what else is around.

I loved to let John doing all my nsx works too... and I had refered business to him. He's more than a good guy.

With all that said, I had Hong's garage in Seattle serviced my nsx few years ago, and Polar also had them done the timing belt/water pump at the time...
I don't have any experience with them lately, but you could check yellow page and call them up.

Understood. From experience, I'm just saying to be careful. Sometimes you get what you pay for.
