I know the 1997 NSX with automatic transmission has
the smaller engine than the manual vehicles. Does the
engine get the upgrades parts that the 1997 model NSX
with a manual transmission, or is it the same engine that
the pre 1997 auto's have?

I think every non engine components got chaged except for the engine itself. Hence, the same hp as pre 97. The exhaust was upgraded but no effect on hp.

Do a search on automatics and horsepower and you'll find out what can be done to increase hp and why honda didn't increased it.

Thanks, I was more curious about the upgrades that the
97 model received such as the better head gasket,
larger rod bearings, exhaust manifolds, different cylinder linings,
etc. When I read the changes for 97, it is not clear if the
3.2 was the only one that received the improvments or if the
3.0 also got the improvments. Thanks,
Viper Lover.

Pretty sure that all years of NSX with an automatic get the 252hp engine. :(
