Hissing coming from speaker between seats

This is the speaker used for the phone - when its turned on... But with the volume of the radio/CD player turned down (or totally turned off) there's an annoying hissing sound coming out of the speaker. When I turn on the car phone, it stops, for a second, then comes back on. Is this speaker used only for the phone? OR does it also have sound wired up from the sound system? this is annoying the hell out of me

not to mention the fricken climate control fan in the console that makes noise dammit - i am about to remove the whole fan!

It's part of the sound system. Problems with this particular speaker are common after about 6-8 years. See http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Troubleshooting/soundsystem.htm

Also common. See the part about the buzzing noise in the console, in http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Troubleshooting/noise.htm

None of the symptoms are the same in any of the posts i saw in the FAQ - i always look before i post...

how frustrating

Yeah, I know...

but I figure, if it's "wailing" or "popping" or "quiet" or "dead", heck, maybe "hissing" has the same cause.

Or maybe there's a snake in your car.

It's very likely the same failure described in the FAQ. I can only list so many adverbs to describe one noise. Maybe I'll revise it to say "...or any other bad sound."
