HONDA REQUESTED INFORMATION: Customer-purchased parts

I received the following message from someone who works for Honda:

I was asked what the most common parts that customers pay for after their car is out of warranty. My guess is Clutch, Window regulators, Oil senders, etc. Would it be possible for you to put together 1) a thread asking what parts NSX owners buy, and then 2) Run a poll with the answers to #1, to get a volume idea?

So, I am posting this thread for people to reply with the most common new factory parts you purchase for your NSX. No warranty-paid, aftermarket or used parts please.

Just reply to this thread, and then I'll put together a poll in a week or so in order to get an idea of the relative volume of various parts. If someone else has listed a part, you don't need to list it again.

Our friend at Honda thanks you!

1. Clutch

Things I've purchased thus far:
Factory lip spoiler
Rubber flip up headlight stoppers
Rubber trunk stoppers
Rubber spare tire bracket bumpers
Clutch master cyl
Clutch slave cyl
Cam plugs
Valve gaskets
Oil pan gasket
Header gaskets
Shift knob
Floormats
Trunk mat
Upper window mouldings
Various plastic clips (bulkhead, door, rad shroud)
vtec spool valve gaskets
oil filters
air filters
fuel filters
little circular rubber plugs above the shocks (4 per side above the front shocks)
Oil and tranny crush rings
brake caliper rebuild kit
clips holding winsheild washer tubing under the hood
Tail light gaskets
outside temp sensor
Climate control headunit
radio knobs
All belts
All coolant hoses
Water pump

Things I can see buying in the future:
Clutch assy/T.O. bearing
Coolant tank
Main relay
coil packs
front windsheild
spare tire
interior dash garnish around temp sensor
windsheild washer fluid tank (constant hot/cold cracks)
Brake master cyl
Window regulator
A/c system components (evap/blower/compressor)
Alternator
02 sensors

In addition to driveline components like clutch, gears and synchros. I would think:

1. Suspension parts like tie-rods, bushes etc,

2. Full gasket sets inc. valve covers, oil pan, manifold etc,

3. CV joints.

4. Cam belts, water pumps...

5. Brake cylinder kits incl. master cylinder

5. Maybe some electrical items like O2 sensors, alternators and possibly air conditioning compressors.

After 16+ years of the NSX, Honda doesn't already know what OEM items are most frequently purchased? Late April fools joke, right?

Coil pack cover gaskets
Coil packs
VTEC Solenoid (spool valve) gasket
Oil pressure gauge sender

Okay, I'll play

Since it's not a joke...

The only new non-refurbed oem parts I have bought are:
-Main relay
-Fuel pump resistor
-Horn button
-CV boot
-Shift knob
-Ignition switch/harness
-Front turn signal housing and lense
-Keyless entry
-Oil filters
-Pushpins

But I would think Honda would be far more interested in knowing what items they could have sold (direct OEM replacement only), but lost to aftermarket, i.e., climate control board, leather seat skins, belts, brake pads, brake lines, hoses, etc.

This sounds like good news....perhaps honda will keep us showered with parts for years to come.

I'd add a few things to the list:

Taillights (all 3)
gaskets for above
T top weather seal
windshield trim parts (all)

White94, You and I have almost the same list. :)

Here is mine so far:
Rubber trunk stoppers
Cam plugs
Valve gaskets

Header gaskets
Floormats
Trunk mat
Oil filters
Air filters
Fuel filters
Oil crush rings
Tail light gaskets

Radio knobs
All belts
All coolant hoses
Water pump
Coolant tank
Brake master cyl
Complete Antilock Brake System
Window regulators

AC Evaporator

I don't know about it being a joke, but Honda certainly has records of which parts are most frequently purchased. In fact, I believe they use that in recommending which parts dealers should keep in stock. (I know they use it in determining which parts are stocked in warehouses around the country, and the quantities stocked.)

I'm sure all the parts used for the various scheduled maintenance procedures (or "consumables" like brake pads) would be used far more frequently than any of the parts needed only when a failure occurs. And the more frequent the maintenance procedure, the more parts needed (e.g. more oil filters than timing belts).

So far:
Both Window regulators
Engine hatch struts
Coolant tank
Water pump
Belts
Front skid plate
Speakers
floor mats
brake discs & pads

Later on
All hoses
gaskets
seals

1. Seats cover (bolsters)
2. Antenna
3. Bulbs
