I may sell my NSX and get a jaguar XK-R

Batman:

Koni's stay on stiffest setting since I track pretty often and I am to lazy to make the changes :)

Last year, I sold a 2010 XK-R with 9k miles. It was white on white and absolutely gorgeous and very fast, but already had 5 different visits to the dealership for warranty electrical, battery and key issues. I wouldn't buy one expecting the same reliability as an NSX.

Batman you are right, what can I say at 50 I just don't feel like doing all that every time I track the car, heck I'm getting where I hate having to change out the wheels, put on numbers and clean out the car. It only takes about 90 minutes to pull everything out, change the wheels and put all my stuff in the car for a track day but I am just getting lazy in my old age. Love the track just get tired of the prep before and after.

White 92 Sorry to hear about the Jag that you had, I have gone on the Jag forums and most seem to like their cars but electrical issues do seem to pop up. I am crossing my fingers and I hope to get a car off lease that comes with a warranty.

There are a few of those models in my neighborhood that I walk past on a fairly frequent basis. The style may be familiar to a few other cars as people have pointed out, but I think that Jag did it with elegance. Appropriately placed chrome and grills and bulges in the right place make for a very nice overall package. I have to say that even though I walk past it frequently I don't get tired of the view.

Haven't ever driven one though, so I can't comment there, but as far as a nice looking car it gets a big thumbs up frome me. Good luck in your hunt!

Just get KW3. Solves your ride problem.

If he has the Koni Yellows then it won't be any better if he has the KW V3 on "Viagra" mode.

I have Koni yellows in the GTO and had them in the RX7.

Both are(were) in the soft settings. Hard was too ridiculous.

I had a '06 XK8 for a couple of years and I enjoyed the car. It was a beautiful silver / black interior with a black top and had all the options. Although it isn't in the same caliber as what you are looking at, it suited me on my weekend driving chores.
I couldn't imagine selling my NSX to own it though as the NSX is just a great car.
I had a few problems with mine that were covered by the factory warrantee and I got to be good friends with the parts dept. Parts for these cars are crazy expensive and for that reason alone I wouldn't buy another..... I put them up there (repair cost wise) with the Range Rovers that were sold beside them at the dealership.

Beautiful car as a second but not worth selling the NSX for (for me).
I ended up trading the XK8 for a '06 SL55 with the 030 package and I love it. Probably wouldn't trade the NSX for it either though.

One reason I am looking to sell my NSX is that it is my daily driver and has just over 169,000 miles on it now. I feel I need a car with lower miles since I drive my car for business and pleasure and as I get older the Jag will be easier to get into and out of. Heck I have to wait for like 3 minutes for the wife to crawl out now when we go somewhere in the NSX :) I will be out of the car around her side before she is out of the car. Then she complains, I guess I am just beat down by her no longer liking the car, although I do like the Jag so I am not to upset

if anyone wants my car I will take $24,000 for it as I am ready to get a jag now. Docl did you look at the one down in Florida when you went to the dealership? I drove the one in Atlanta and really like it. They offered to trade my NSX in for $21 and it will save me another close to $2k in sales tax if I trade. The jag drives really well. Definitely different than the NSX but more the style I am looking for now and my wife really likes it. She told me to do the deal when i was there but I was hoping for a slightly better deal. Can't believe the wife said to go ahead and buy and I waited, that is a first. Definitely want to be in a jag by months end.

Hugh, that could be very true but after 11 years I am ready to move on to something new. I would wait for the new NSX but I always get used cars (about 2-4 years old) and that is just to long to wait. I have the bug and it is hard to shake. That plus the wife wants something she will enjoy riding with me on trips. All of our kids are out of the house now and we like to travel more often and I always like to take the NSX when we go. She doesn't and that causes a problem. better of get a grand tourer type car that still has performance and we can both be happy. I like the look of the Jag as a change of pace. I will sorely miss the NSX, she has been the best car I ever had. In the past I got sick of a car after 2-3 years max and here I am at 11 years and would keep her as she still looks and runs great. I have had the wife longer (30 years) and while the NSX is cheaper to keep up, the wife is more expensive to get rid of :)

Hey Dave:

I did look at multiple cars but the XKR is in my price range ($45k) I test drove one in Atlanta and there is one down in palm beach as well. My local dealership says he can get me one as well in my price range and it should be in hopefully this week. I am still trying to sell my NSX before I trade it in and I lowered the price to $22k and will give the seller both extra sets of wheels. I have one guy that may be interested as he is the one that got me that low. I'd like to sell to a prime member as I know they will take care of her. My car club is having an oyster roast today and hopefully one of them will want her as they are all car guys that take good care of their cars. My son wanted me to give her to him and sell his dodge charger, even the kids want me to keep the car. I have never caught so much grief over selling a car but the kids were pretty young when I bought her

thanks Hugh, I just notoiced your tag line 666 RWHP is something else and 287k miles that is awesome.

I do have a guy that is coming to check out the car tomorrow so hopefully he likes it. He has cash to. There is a prime member that has said he may want it as well. Hopefully between the 2 I am driving the jag by weeks end.

Jaguar makes some awesome cars both aestheticly and performance wise. I would personally stay away from 2008 but if it is in your price range with warranty and a clean maintenance record, go for it. The reliability of old was definitely a huge issue but has drastically climbed recently. JD Powers had Jaguar ranked at 23rd or so in 2010 which was below the industry average but has improved to 3rd in 2011. I have a 2011 XF S/C which has been one of the nicest and fastest car I have ever owned. I can't say enough about how good it is. The newer the model, the better b/c reliability is a factor. I love the styling of the XK as long as it is a coupe and not the convertible which just ruins the lines IMO. good luck.

Well the local dealership I was trying to help me get the car I wanted screwed around and the Jag I wanted got sold. There are a few others out there still but I did test drive a Mercedes C coupe AMG this afternoon. Man that was a fun car to drive. I don't like the looks quite as much as the Jag, but gobs of power! I am waiting to see what deal they will offer now. I wish I could get my car sold already as my wife wants a new car before we go out of town in about a week. It is just been hard as I really can't show it since I have working some crazy hours. I finally had a few minutes today and a track buddy that works at the local Mercedes dealership got me to run over a see the AMG. Tonight will be my first night home before 9:00 PM this week.

Have you looked at an Audi s5? I fell in love with that car.

I love the Maserati but the upkeep on those is crazy expensive. The GTR would be nice and the Audi looks good as well. Yes, the C coupe is out of the range I was looking at as it is $67,000 but it is brand new, full warranty and over 450 HP and 443 ft/lbs. The wife likely won't go that much right now as she set the $45k budget but we can dream can't we. I may go back and search Aston Martin's as well as she saw one this weekend and liked even in a convertible which she didn't like at first.

In that 45K range, I would be all over the Audi S5.
