Insurance renewal time - any good companies out there?

Currently got everything (3 cars + house) insured with National. The NSX is costing me just over $500 / 6 mths. (fyi, 40 yrs old + clean record)

Not an outrageous amount, but it irks me they can't offer me a policy to match my needs (less than 2000 miles a year, pleasure only & no commuting). And of course it is always nice to save money where possible!

So I thought I'd tap into the local NSX community and see which companies you guys use and feel are good. Any recommendations?

Obviously cheaper is not necessarily better - back in the UK I would use a specialist insurance company who did 'classic car' policies which allowed for limited miles & offered a sensible valuation policy in case of a total loss. Do such companies exist here as well?

If you have an older Nsx in good condition you should try out..

www.hagerty.com
www.lelandwest.com
www.usinsuranceonline.com
www.safeco.com
www.heacockclassic.com

I have not used any of them but looked into it. I'm paying much more about 900.00 every 6 months and I drive less then 2,000 miles a year so this is something I'm going to seriously consider this year to try and save money. Where you live and your age and driving record will make a big difference in price..

Good luck!

Insuring my NSX properly is the real issue. Price is important but remember, insurance is not a commodity. You want to be sure you have spent your money on a policy/s that will deliver to your expectations should you call upon it to deliver. All specialty insurance providers (Hagerty, JC Taylor, Safeco, etc.) have very strict usage criteria when insuring collectible cars. Annual mileage restrictions, how and where the car is driven, and several other conditions must be adhered to or coverage could be void. In addition, I found when dealing with a 1-800 operator, I pretty much get a “cookie-cutter” or “one size fits all” type solution. Dealing with a good independent agent can pay huge dividends in terms of premium and coverage. A good independent agent has access to the specialty market and can also be creative depending on the needs of his customer. As an example, I’m currently insuring my 91 NSX under the same policy as the other regular use vehicles in the household for liability only and then covering the physical value of the car under a separate policy which makes a lot of sense. Now I can use and drive the car as much as I want (mileage) and, for any occasion and be completely covered. My car is insured with 1.3 million dollars of liability and for physical value of $50,000 at an annual cost of $792. That’s outstanding for a combination high performance/high value vehicle with unlimited use. My other vehicles and house are also evaluated the same way. Let me know if you want my agents contact information. I’m sure he’ll be glad to speak with you. BTW, no I'm not an insurance agent!

Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions so far!! Looks like there may be some better options out there than my current arrangement, so NSX Prime comes up trumps again.

I'll let you know how it pans out

If you are in NJ/PA, try NJ Manufacturers Ins Co. One of the best on the block. My NSX (1992) costs about $800/yr as the second car on my policy. They have one of best records on file. As some of my fellow prime members know, I have 1st hand knowledge since I've had the displeasure of testing their claims process in the not too distant past.

I have them too, and am very pleased, but like they say with insurance companies, you never know how good they are until you submit a claim:biggrin: I think I pay $2600 a year for both my NSX's.

Correct on NJM. Been with them so long I forgot.... From their website:
