I am insured by USAA. Great company, but my NSX insurance seems to keep rising, and they do not offer windshield replacement..... I plan to keep my house/cars under USAA, but wondering if anyone out there might have a recommendation for a stand alone insurance company they use for their NSX separately from their home and daily drivers that is reasonably priced?? Thanks.....
 
I also have USAA. What do you mean by "they do not offer windshield replacement"? I thought that was a standard, built-in part of their coverage (but admit I haven't read the fine print in decades).
 
I am pretty positive that they do NOT replace a broken windshield.... They do pay for star crack repairs where you take it in to fix it with the vacuum epoxy process..... I need to call them to confirm, but pretty sure this is the case. I am always nervous out driving, as I think I've never owned a car that hasn't had a cracked or broken windshield at some point.....
 
USAA covers windshield less the $1000 deductible for comprehensive..... They do repair cost of small "stars"
 
The windshield or glass coverage will vary depending on what state your are in. There are a handful of states that require the insurance company to offer you full glass coverage as an option. Most states have no such laws and the insurance companies may not even offer full replacement windshields without a deductible.

Before I got into my role at the dealership I was a repair technician and claims specialist at an auto glass company here in MN. We are one of I believe 8 states that requires your company to offer you full replacement coverage with no deductible.

In Florida we have full glass replacement as part of our insurance. It is covered at 100%. I've had two windshields replaced in the past with USAA.
 
Funny story about insurance:

I am with Auto Club (over 60 years).

I sold my C5 Z06 and got the NSX, than I sold my CTS-V (1st gen) and when I called Auto Club to report the sale, the insurance agent told me,"Go out and get yourself another car, you don't want the NSX to be your only auto."

Insurance would have been over $4k a year if the NSX was my only car.

The insurance agent told me it costs a fortune to repair an NSX. I told him if it was in an accident it wouldn't be repaired, it would be totaled. lol

Now with two cars, the bill is less than $2,500 a year.

When I got out of college and long before the high tech companies were invented all the high paying jobs like loan sharking, drug dealing, illegal gambling were taken so I managed to land a job at a major insurance company. Through sheer luck, willing to work for a low pay and attrition of some of my alcoholic colleagues I rose to a high corporate title in a major company. so I see how insurance companies work from the inside.
As someone smarter than me already posted there are a number of states (8)that require zero deductible on comprehensive coverage glass claims and I'm happy to say Arizona applies this law which is of the many reasons I moved here.
One of the things I'd like to share is that the rate you are paying is partially based upon miles driven. Many companies send out annual questionnaires AAA, USAA, etc. and as most honest people may inadvertently over state the miles they drive. The lowest non-specialty class is for 5000 miles or less for a personal auto. Over that and you'll be put in the next rate category. At 15K miles you'll likely be put in two levels higher. Vehicles are always used for pleasure as you carpool to work... wink wink. Now if you have two reckless driving, a DUI and several tickets for exceeding 100 mph this tidbit won't help.
This year the pandemic has cut car travel significantly as individuals are working from home and most companies haven't adjusted the rate down on miles traveled. Some Insurance companies have given generous refunds (in their mind) but really it is a internal rate adjustment based upon miles traveled. So you might want to inform your company, agent or broker of a change in usage.

We have our insurance for home and auto with Travelers. As Sled Driver mentioned miles driven per year effects the premium. Currently we are paying about $2000 per year for both the 2017 Volvo and the 2017 NSX. Full coverage with $250 deductible. Both cars are listed as Pleasure Driving. They list the NSX as NAX. I have tried to have that changed but it is a result of the Vin number which I verified was correct. Going from 2500 miles per year to 5000 changes our premium by around $200 per car. I pay a $50 deductible for Windshield replacement which is great.
 
2nd time around with Liberty Mutual, last time they valued my NSX at $52K cash value. My current premium for 1993 NSX and 2013 Q5 is $2,040 a year with $1,000 deductible (waived if Not at fault collision).
 
Check American Modern for agreed value policies - I have my built GTR $160k / NSX $145k - GTR is $1800 a year and NSX is $950. Agreed value on a total keeps the lowballing from happening. Full glass and comp with no deductible.

Have five other cars on Nationwide along with house, business and life, but they would not insure the NSX for some reason. Could possibly be the fact I have three kids 19 and 20 on the policy.

Will be testing how good the Nationwide is because my Hellcat just got stolen in Chicago.

I also have USAA. I've been with them since 1978. I'm paying $875 per six months for the NSX which is expensive and I have checked any other insurance companies.

Highly recommend checking through https://gabi.com/LIvUP. Got one of the best quotes with well known major insurers. I shopped around and got ridiculous quotes (as low as $1100 to $16000 for 12 months full coverage of the NSX and my fiancé’s 2018 Crosstrek. We both have clean driving records so must have been a loss data thing on the NSX. I’m planning to go with Travelers as my home policy is through them as well. Good luck in your search, just stay away from AllState and State Farm. By far the most insanely expensive.

I have State Farm on my 2018 NSX and the premium is $519.34 for full 6 month coverage $100 deductible on comprehensive,$250 deductible on collision and a 7500 mile per year limit. I thought that was a decent price.

Our insurance is about $2000 for both the NSX and the Volvo XC90 T8 Plugin because of our bundled home owners insurance with Travelers. I have the NSX listed at 2500 miles per year pleasure driving with the Volvo at 7500 miles pleasure driving. The NSX is about $1200 and the Volvo is around $800. No tickets or accidents for the last 5 years.

Just got my new quote from State Farm. Same coverage $434.93 for 6 months. I think that was quite good. I was going to shop rates after my initial 6 months but I think I am good. This is especially true since I have been with my agent for over 50 years (he's semi-retired, and now his family runs the agency on a day to day basis) and he's always treated my family well. I would be interested to see if anyone has gotten a lower rate?

Through Traveller’s I’m getting $312 for 6 months for the NSX. I benefit from a multi-line and multi-car discount. Best prices I’ve seen and this is for much higher than state mandate coverage including $250k/500k coverage.

I recently had a Hellcat stolen in Chicago and lost a considerable amount having this on a standard NY policy with high limits (500k/$500k) and low/no deductibles.

Sometimes you get what you pay for. It’s insurance, don’t cut corners and don’t let an adjuster tell you what he thinks it’s worth when your policy leaves no recourse for you other than through the insurance agencies own Arbitrator.

Insurance had no covid adjustments for there Charger Hellcat even though the line was shut down for 5+ months and no new cars on the lot. That drove used prices up greater than 20%; where low mileage cars are selling for more than when they were new.

Awful compared to other State Farm quotes, but just an indicative quote from State Farm - $850 every 6 months with 7,500 miles a year and $1,000 deductible. No accidents or tickets in at least 3 years. This is Chicago suburbs with multi car/peril discount.

AMIG has been around a long time and it could simply be your broker does not deal with them. I think I have the NSX listed as 10k a year but we did 3k last year.

I have three cars with them, all agreed value and others on Nationwide. There is a 10% premium I would say from my Nationwide policy, but AMIG covers my complete build on my GTR (engine, transmission, suspension, fuel system, rims, body mods, etc.). It takes awhile to go through the process but well worth it.

The NSX was immediate and they did not even question the agreed value.

Also insurance is extremely state specific. If you are in NY, I can send you my brokers name and he can assist you.

Based on my loss in Chicago with the Hellcat, I’ve changed around my policy to replacement value on the higher value, less volume cars. I think that alone would help the average person in these crazy times.
 
While I have not had a claim for some time now, I can recall via Auto Club providing evidence of value to insure that the car was properly covered. And of course there is the used car tax and other fees associated with owning a car. I recall having the Auto Dealerships providing equivalent value from a replacement standpoint. It is important to document your car and make sure you have supporting information as to condition etcetera.
