hi guys --

We began a year ago to completely redesign our Proformance Audiophile system for the NSX. It was our quest to produce a package that makes installation as simple as possible producing the best performance, with the most reasonable cost.

Along the way, we've spent a great effort in producing several new and revised stereo products for the NSX which are featured below.

ScienceofSpeed Door Speaker Panel Kit

During this process, we redesigned our door speaker panel kit to offer the best fitment. We also change the material to a special air injected HDPE plastic that is both weather proof and lightweight. Being waterject machined - the panels fit perfect, everytime.

We also improved the design of our stereo bracket kit that allows customers to install single and double DIN stereos into the NSX. By using a special tight radius bend and angled slots - our bracket kit can now fit even the largest double DIN stereos into the NSX.

With a tooling investment over $15,000, Downforce was able to produce replacement center consoles for the NSX to be used with aftermarket single and double DIN stereos. Injection molded out of urethane - the Downforce consoles retain every stand off boss, tab, locating pin, and exact cut outs of even the finest detail - the aspirator fan vent. These consoles fit just like a factory console would. The consoles can fit any double or single DIN stereo unit and work perfectly with the ScienceofSpeed Bracket Kit for Single & Double DIN Stereos. What is the difference between your first double/single din stereo bracket to your current product now?

i'm having trouble with my DD bracket not working well with the ashtray on the console i have. Has this been addressed in the new bracket?

The ash tray movement is not something that we can address with the bracket since the upward height is limited by the top dash bracket. The problem is described here well:

This seems to be only an issue with the larger screen double DINs. You ash tray lid is removeable however. It can be sanded down on the mounting surface to work. This process is described well here:

We've made a couple improvements to the bracket set to allow some of the newer large screen stereos to fit which are just a hair over the standard double DIN size. The new bracket set is made with a special die that allows the tightest bend radius and is made with the slots at a slight angle to increase the range of motion for mounting.

All the speakers I have tried have no problem clearing the door panel or window assembly, so this is not likely. I doubt you need them, but if you do, they are available on the aftermarket (search for "car speaker spacer").
